Reconstruction

In 2005, the city administration initiated the reconstruction of the Uritsky Park (Kazan), during which recreational walks were restored and young trees planted.

Another reconstruction, but more ambitious, is planned for the near future. The project was coordinated with the residents of the city. Controversial issues were discussed on July 16, 2015 at a conference in the Palace of Culture. Igor Kulyazhev, the chairman of the Kazan Committee on external landscaping, Damir Fattakhov, the head of the Moscow and Kirovsky districts of the city, Natalia Fishman, an assistant to the president of Tatarstan, a specialist in squares and parks, 200 city dwellers attended the meeting.

A presentation of the planned reconstruction was shown. The author of the project was a group of young talented designers. The main changes that are planned to be made in the design of the park are a new embankment, a new cycling ring with a modern coating, the transformation of a spontaneous football field in the western part of the park into a full-fledged sports ground, an update of the tennis court. Residents were promised that the oldest part of the park with 150-year-old pine trees will be preserved in its original form. The townspeople advocated regular cleaning of the lake, which began to blossom.

The initiative group proposed to build a children's cafe in the park, to rebuild a children's cinema in the form of an airplane, to organize a place for the walking of four-legged friends, to create a square of aviators. All these issues are being approved.

Reviews of the park

In general, the Uritsky park in Kazan is very popular with local people. It is praised and guests of the city, noting the large number of green spaces, cleanliness, grooming, convenience for visitors. However, many are unhappy with the fact that in the park there are more and more commercial tents and entertainment. Especially parents are indignant with paid trampolines and carousels, which are expensive, thus limiting the possibilities of simple family walks in the park.
