"Palomar" - a knot for fishing. How to knit a fishing knot

Currently, there are many different ways to connect among themselves different fishing lines, cords and monolesses. Fishing knots are also used for fastening leashes and hooks. The stronger the connection, the less chance of losing both the tackle and the catch. In reality there are a lot of nodes, but they do not need to know them. It will be enough to learn the technique of knitting 5-6 options. One of the main ways to join a fishing line or braid to the hook is Palomar. This site has a number of advantages that make it one of the most famous and reliable ways of fastening.

What is the difference between fishing knots for fishing lines and braids?

Often one and the same type of fastening is ascribed to the line, then to the braid, and there is always someone who inserts a weighty word about monofilament. But in reality, is there any difference, which node should I use? As practice shows, there are no significant differences. For example, the line and monofilament perfectly connects Palomar. The knot does not slip and connects remarkably almost all types of gear, the main thing is that their diameter is not large.

But nevertheless cords and braids of different manufacturers differ from each other in the type of fibers, weaving and the composition of the outer coating. That's why many serious gear manufacturers recommend a particular node for their products. Most often in the brochures and operating instructions are indicated nodes "Yuni" and "Palomar".

Node of super-reliable fastening

Among the great number of fishing knots and their modifications there are several considered the most reliable and strong. One of them is connected with fishing lines and braids, while others are used in the rigging and fasten hooks and leashes. This is exactly what the Palomar node is. In addition, its popularity is evidenced by numerous variations.

Among experienced fishermen, there is an opinion that this type of fastening is good only for braids. But the judgment is fundamentally wrong. "Palomar" is a universal node. In addition, it is noted that, in view of the roughening of the braid, it is not tightened tightly enough. As a result, it can be weakened or completely untied at the most inopportune moment. Therefore, if necessary, attach the artificial bait to the main spinning net on spinning, for example, a wobblers, it is better to use another knot. And when knitting, it's okay to wet the wattletch and tighten the knot more tightly.

In practice, it is checked that Palomar is easily knit, compared to other knots, while maintaining the strength of the line. Even the manufacturers of fishing tackle recommend it to connect parts of the rigging. This node is difficult to perform incorrectly.

Application

"Palomar" - a knot known and popular. In addition, it is simple, and its knitting is easy to remember. It is designed to connect the line with flies, lures or hooks. Also, through the swivel, they can attach leashes. In general, the site is simple and verified. It has long been mastered by fans of both spinning fishing and bottom fishing line. "Palomar" is used in any gear for various types of equipment. For example, in the spinning with its help, braids and wobblers, as well as soft baits, are fastened to the braid, in the float, match and bottom fishing rod the hook and leashes are attached by this knot, it is also possible to connect the sinker with the fishing line.

Knotting the "Palomar" knot

As already mentioned above, the fishing knot "Palomar" is knit relatively easily. Long practice to remember all the actions, do not have to. To connect the details of the snap-in with this node, you must do the following:

1. Fold the fishing line in half so that the result is a loop.

2. Pull this eyelet into the eye of the hook or bait. If it is small, then we can proceed as follows: we stretch into it first one end of the line, then, having formed a loop, we again extend it through the hole in the eyelet, but only in the opposite direction.

3. The folded loop is tied around the hook so that it is inside it.

4. We pull the loop exactly so that through it you can push the hook or artificial lure.

5. Wet the formed knot and tighten it tightly. Pull for both ends of the line. The remaining free end is cut so that at least 3 mm is left.

Alternative knotting

Often use the node "Palomar" for the drop-shots. Sometimes it becomes necessary to choose an alternative method of binding for this tooling. In general, all items are carried out, as in the classical version, except that the last loop knits opposite to the hook's hook. In this case, the hook is fixed - it is no longer free in its movement. Such a small trick gives a better fixation.

For the same reason, feeder lovers knit this knot according to the classical scheme described above. They need a mobile "working" hook. In general, everything is tested in practice. It is recommended to study and memorize both variants of knitting. Then it will be possible in practice to understand which option is preferable and reliable in what case.

Advantages of the Palomar site

So, how to knit a knot "Palomar" is described in detail, but what are its advantages over dozens of other fastening methods? First, it is a universal type of connection, suitable not only to the line, but also to the cord, braid and monofilament. This node is one of the three most reliable. With him, even on a thin line you can fish a fairly large fish. This method of connecting baits and hooks with the main line minimizes the strength of the tooling by about 5%, which is undoubtedly an excellent indicator. Bribes and the fact that he knits very simply, a professional will perform this knot even in the dark.

In the process of tying, you can make it so that the hook (or bait) is fixed or free. And this is an undoubted plus, because the rigging is different.

disadvantages

The "Palomar" assembly, for monolinsky and plaiting, is used, has drawbacks. When he knits, the loop will need to go through a hook or bait, so it should be large in size. It turns out that the consumption of the line is increased. But if this tackle is inexpensive, then you can not say anything about a braid or cord. The consumption will be noticeable after 20 bandages. Such a loss is palpable.

In order to save a little, it is necessary to knit the knot a little differently than in the classical version. So, after the loop is inserted into the eyelet and a simple knot is made, it is not tightened much. Further, the loop is stretched so that the free end remains only 2 mm. Next, this loop, as expected, throws itself on the hook and tightens into a knot. At the same time, the free end remains short, you do not need to trim it. This, though a little, but still saves the expense of not expensive gear.

Triple fishing hub "Palomar"

Triple node "Palomar" - a kind of classic. It also fits easily and quickly. But you need to consider that this option is absolutely not suitable for attaching hooks. This is because the line must pass through the access ring not one, but six times. It is very disappointing that the coils become dense: they press against each other, weakening the strength of the connection. For the same trivial reason, do not apply this node to the monolie.

But it is the triple "Palomar" - the best option for plaits. It retains its strength. It is easy to match. As in the classical version, we fold the braid in half, forming a loop. We pass it through a ring of bait, for example, spoon-bait or wobblers. Now the main point: we stretch the loop through the ring two more times. Now, the end of the braided net is tied up with a knot above the spoon. Do not tighten it, let's loop through the spoonbill, hold it up to the loops on the ring and tighten it. To the site turned out strong, we moisten it with water and once again we pull on the main part of the braid. Crop the extra free end, leaving 3 mm. That's how the triple knot "Palomar" comes out.

Modification

In order to save braids, a simpler fixation was invented and tested than a double knot. "Palomar" has several modifications. This variant is distinguished by the fact that the loop is not passed through the bait or hook, but through the free end of the line. Of course, classical knitting is somewhat stronger, but this modification is more economical. In this way, it is not recommended to connect intermediate lures, such as a dropship or a wobic. But for other cases, it is quite fit. This modification is very simple, the node is quite strong. The loop does not need to be made large, accordingly, braids or lines are less. It is best to try to make both nodes and compare which one is better.
