"Palace on the Yauza" - an open theatrical scene in Moscow
In three minutes walk from the metro station "Electrozavodskaya" is a beautiful building of the theater and concert hall, which is called "Palace on the Yauza". This is really a palace that has already turned 112 years old.
The People's House
This building was built purposefully under the People's House, named "Vvedensky" in connection with its location on the Vvedensky Mountains (Lefortov Hill).
Care for enlightenment
People's houses were built on the outskirts, in the areas where the working people live. The mission of 10 constructed temples of art was enlightening - to attach the poor to the world of beauty. In the People's Houses there were libraries, and it was planned to create theaters in them.
Temple of Melpomene
Initially, the building was low. "Palace on the Yauza" has now acquired its majestic outlines after a grandiose reconstruction carried out in the 1940s. The people's house really turned into a grand palace, made in the style of "Stalin's Empire." The exterior looks very much like the Bolshoi Theater. The converted old building faithfully served the Muscovites and guests of the capital.
Metamorphosis
Of course, the owners in it changed. Thus, the Mossovet Theater, run by Yuri Zavadsky, was within its walls from 1947 to 1959. Then the host became the Television Theater, famous for the fact that the first "Blue Lights" and meetings of KVN teams were held here. The "Palace on the Yauza" (photo is in the article) was famous for the fact that in its walls in the 80s, when the Palace of Culture "MELZ" was in it, the "Hard" parade was accompanied by the premiere of S. Soloviev's film "ACCA". But in the troubled times of the transformation, "The Palace on the Yauza" would not survive if it were not renting out its premises.
Cultural Center
In 2008, the building was renovated and renamed the Theater and Concert Hall "Palace on the Yauza", which possesses all the modern infrastructure of the cultural center. The building is huge and fully corresponds to the purpose of the modern rental site. There are several rooms here (capacity varies) - one large and three small. The concert foyer and the Hall of Columns are adapted to any repertoire.
Beauty room
"Palace on the Yauza" (the scheme of a large hall, designed for 814 seats, is attached) meets the most stringent requirements. This room, which provides for the transformation of the orchestra and the stage, is able to provide on it performances of a wide variety of genres.
Chamber halls
In addition to this beautiful hall there are also several small rooms - the Column Hall is designed for 112 seats, the concert two-level foyer - for 213 (as the concert room has been functioning since 2011), Pink, Lilac and Green small halls have 70 seats each. All these premises involve the carrying out of chamber programs, such as poetic and creative evenings, children's productions, puppet shows and conferences. And, of course, given the tastes of modernity, these premises are surrendered to corporate meetings and presentations. The scheme of the "Palace on the Yauza" implies only the scheme of a large hall.
Chamber halls are traditional - no amphitheaters and mezzanines.
Scenic Area
Given the huge size of the "Palace on the Yauza", since 2014 it has been made an open theater stage, capable of hosting any collectives for the entire period of repair of their main building. The presence of more than one scene makes it possible to stage several plays at once.
In such a role, "The Palace on the Yauza", the layout of which clearly demonstrates its compliance with its highest requirements, has been performing since 2014. Now the theater "Sovremennik" has settled down in it, the performances of which constantly go in the Great Hall. The season of 2015 was opened with the play "Three Comrades", staged by the main theater director Galina Borisovna Volchek. It so happened that in the walls of the "Palace on the Yauza" this legendary theater met its anniversary - in 2016 "Contemporary" turns 60 years old.
