Oleg Romantsev - famous footballer and coach

Oleg Romantsev - the legend of the Moscow "Spartacus." All true lovers of football know this name. It is about him that will be discussed in the article.

early years

Born future footballer and coach on January 4, 1954 in the village Gavrilovskoye Ryazan region. From the very childhood Oleg played a special role in life, and already then he decided who he would become in the future, especially since the makings were quite good. Strongly built and confident standing on the legs - ideal parameters for a successful extreme defender.

Player's career

He started his career as a Romantsev in the Krasnoyarsk team "Motorist". There he performed for four seasons (1972-1976). During this time, he managed to play 60 games, scoring 10 goals, which is very good for the player of the defensive plan. The success of the young player did not go unnoticed, and already in 1977 he moved to one of the leading clubs in the country - the Moscow "Spartak". But at the time of the transition to the team Muscovites experienced a bad period, and in the same season (1976/1977) flew to the lower league. But the following year the club returns to the highest division, and a year later, in the 1979/1980 season, becomes the country's champion. Thus, a young football player Oleg Romantsev in 25 years is awarded the title of champion of the USSR. On this the white band in his life does not end, and already in 1980 he receives a challenge to the national team of the country. And this meant that Romantsev became a participant in the Olympic Games in Moscow, in which the team eventually won the bronze.

If the career for the club with Oleg Ivanovich developed quite successfully, then the performance for the national team can not be called successful. And this is not the fault of the football player, because at that time in the national team of the country mainly called the players of Kiev Dynamo. Therefore, taking into account the games for the Olympic team, Romantsev spent only 15 games for the national team and scored one goal.

In the following years, performances for "Spartacus" serious achievements in Oleg Romantsev was not. There were only silver awards in the seasons of 1980, 1981, 1983; Bronze awards in 1982; In 1981 the Muscovites managed to reach the Cup final, but there the team was defeated.

Oleg Romantsev was captain of the capital club and fell in love with local fans for his dedication and willingness to fight for the Spartak emblem on his chest. Perhaps, the further career of the player could develop more successfully, but all has spoiled a foot trauma received in 1983. Did Oleg Romantsev put down his hands? "Spartacus" still became his pride, but already as a team, as he became her coach. But first things first.

Coaching career (club)

After the termination of a career of the player, for a long time without thinking, Romantsev decided to become a football coach. Already in 1984 he headed the team "Krasnaya Presnya" from Moscow. Although serious success with the team was not achieved, but the main achievement of the coach himself was that he managed to instill a dynamic, attacking football team. "Red Presnya" Romantsev trained until 1987.

Next was the 1987/1988 season as head coach of Spartak from Ordzhonikidze. And a year later, Oleg Ivanovich headed his favorite "Spartacus" from Moscow. Oleg Romantsev is a coach who can be proud of. In the first season under his leadership the team won the championship, thereby interrupting the period of 10 years without the gold medals of the championship. Further more, "Spartacus" became the champion of Russia, from 1992 to 2001. Exceptions were only 1995 and 1996, then Muscovites could not win the gold medal of the championship. In 1991 the team became the owner of the last set of silver medals of the USSR championship. Also in the collection of Romantsev - the bronze medals of the championship of 1995, 2002, the USSR Cup season 91/92.

As for appearances in the Euro-arena, the results were also high here - reaching the semifinals of the 90/91 Champions Cup, the semi-final of the Cup of Cups 92/93, the semifinal of the UEFA Cup 97/98.

It is worth noting that Romantsev had two parishes in the capital's club. The second parish was held in 1996. This is due to the fact that from 1994 to 1996, Romantsev coached the Russian national football team. The second parish was no less successful, judging by the awards and club achievements. But in 2003, Romantsev left "Spartacus", and since then the club has not won a single trophy.

Further, in the 2003-2004 season, Oleg Ivanovich heads Saturn, with whom he takes 7th place.

In 2004, he became the head coach of the capital's Dynamo. But the bet on attacking football does not give a result, and after the 8th round, Romantsev is forced to resign.

In 2006 he worked as an assistant coach in the Moscow team "Nika".

Since 2009, he was an assistant coach in Spartak. But with the appearance of Unai Emery as head coach left the post.

Work in the national team

The Russian national team was led by the legendary coach twice (1994-1996 and 1998-2002). The main achievements in the team is the team's exit to the main stage of Euro-96 and World Cup-2002. Special success with the team Romantes could not achieve and after not leaving the group at the 2002 World Cup resigned.

Romantsev - a special pride of the football club "Spartacus" (Moscow). He is truly legendary for all post-Soviet football. "Spartacus" Oleg Romantsev is not at all the same as he was before. This is the first coach who was not afraid to play attacking football, and it brought its results.
