It is the gynecologist who can reliably confirm the fact that the woman expects the baby, especially in the early stages. After the pregnancy is established, the doctor puts the future mother on the register.

Recently, young couples are increasingly planning the birth of children in advance. In this case, the woman appeals to the obstetrician-gynecologist at the stage of preparation for pregnancy. Experts believe that it takes about two months to prepare for fertilization.

However, most often pregnancy occurs unexpectedly. If a woman has such suspicions, she goes to the reception in the women's consultation, where the obstetrician-gynecologist ascertains the condition and conducts the first conversation, during which he ascertains the presence of hereditary diseases in both parents and their relatives according to the patient's words. At the first visit, a gynecological and general examination is performed, measurements of weight, height, pressure, pulse, temperature. The doctor gives an opinion about the state of health at the initial stage of pregnancy and predicts possible complications, and also makes an individual observation plan.

Throughout the term the woman will have to take tests. In addition, the obstetrician-gynecologist prescribes vitamins and gives advice on proper nutrition.
