Multimedia controller: how to remove exclamation mark opposite

Although Microsoft is doing everything possible to maximize the user experience with its Windows operating system, there are still situations where you can not do without adjustments.

One of the ways to simplify the use of the system, chosen by developers from Microsoft, is the inclusion in the distribution of a whole database of different drivers (devices in the internal database). As a result, during the installation of the operating system, they are searched and installed on detection. Unfortunately, this solution is not a panacea, since the device drivers released after the sale of the system installation disk, of course, can not be included in the database. This is one of the most common reasons for the yellow exclamation (or even interrogative) sign in the Device Manager list opposite the "Multimedia Controller" icon.

Windows attributes this to many of his devices. A sign in front of a device such as a multimedia controller will light until the user installs the appropriate driver or remedies the problem. This does not affect the overall operability of the operating system. But it is enough to install the device driver "multimedia controller", as it changes. Most often it's an audio adapter or a TV tuner card.

So, in order to fully configure all the software and hardware components of the computer, you must select and install a controller for the multimedia controller. The simplest solution is to use a CD that always comes with a laptop and a computer. For the laptop, the procedure is as follows: insert the disk into the drive and run its shell (if autorun is disabled). Usually everything is simplified there, so do not reinvent the wheel, and it's better to install all the available drivers at once - for sure, the multimedia controller in the device manager will disappear. Owners of personal computers will have to do a little differently and install the drivers offered by the shell from all those disks that came with the computer (sound card, video card, motherboard, tuner, etc.).

Sometimes those devices that were once needed cease to be such, so they are "forgotten" to put the driver. "Multimedia controller" and exclamation mark - this is the result of such forgetfulness. But even without a driver, the device reserves for itself a portion of the resources, which is not entirely correct, so it should be disabled. Click on it with the right mouse button and select "Disable".

Sometimes support disks are not available for one reason or another. Even in this case, there is a convenient solution - to find the driver yourself. You should start with the motherboard. Going to the manufacturer's website, you need to type in the name of your board and download all the drivers for it. Some of them can be "that way".

The following method is suitable for users of licensed (not hacked) versions of Windows. From the Start menu, open the control panel and go to the update center where we start updating the system components. It is possible that Windows Update will have the driver you need. This operation will require a connection to the Internet.

You can use an alternative way. To do this, download and run Driver Updater (Smart Driver Updater) or similar. Its work is quite simple and consists in scanning the system for missing or obsolete drivers and downloading the current versions. Judging by the reviews, on most computers the efficiency of the program reaches 90% (finds drivers for 4 of 5 devices).

Users with experience can try to determine the type of equipment hiding under the name "multimedia controller", by searching it through known ID equipment (it is viewed in the device manager), but this method can hardly be called optimal.
