Moorish lawn from A to Z

Most of us are more accustomed to laying a roll lawn, on the entire area of which there is a thick grass with a short haircut. The meadow, which is planted with wildflowers, and reminds it of the blossoming eastern cover, is called the Moorish lawn. In order to create such a meadow, it is necessary to allocate a site with a small area near its structure or garden.

Grain crops, as a rule, make up the bulk of the plants of this lawn. The most common of them - it's a pussy and fescue. You can also sow the Moorish lawn with ryegrass, timothy grass, bluegrass. 30% of its total crop is floral motley grass, which also includes different types of meadow and garden flowers. Such garden flowering plants, like facelia, eshsolcia, daisy, alissum, narcissus, calendula, crocus, tulip, are best suited for the Moorish lawn. Out of wildflowers, one can distinguish forget-me-nots, clover, cornflower, sweet clover, Veronica, linseed, resin. The Mauritanian lawn is seeded with a seed mixture, which is purchased in ready-made form, and it is also possible to prepare it yourself. It should be noted that asters, who like to grow in our country, it is better not to plant on this lawn.

After choosing a suitable place to create a lawn, you should prepare the soil. The priority will be cleaning the site from weeds, by digging up the soil to a depth of no more than 20 cm with further alignment. It is also necessary to enrich the soil, using organic fertilizers (humus or reparted manure), add sand and peat. Special fertilizers for lawns that contain nitrogen will be better introduced into the substrate just before sowing the seed mixture. After carrying out the preparatory work on the site, we compact the earth. For this purpose, you can use special tools or simply trample the soil with your feet. Direct seeding should be carried out no less than a couple of weeks after the preparation of the soil. During this period you need to weed out the weeds.

Sowing seeds is better in the first days of May, in the presence of warm and windless weather. This is done in moist soil, while it is necessary to slightly seed the seeds in the ground and roll them up with rakes. The sowing is carried out with the density, which is indicated on the packing of the seeds (in the side portions of 30 g of seeds per 5 m2). Using a watering can with a nozzle made of a fine mesh immediately after sowing, the Moorish lawn should be watered abundantly, after which, to protect the crop from birds, it must be covered. Seed germination lasts from one to two weeks. The color of plants can be observed already in the very beginning of summer.

Proceeding from the fact that we have a Mauritanian lawn (one or many years old), the basic principle of caring for it is determined, which is not particularly difficult. The main point of this process is that it is necessary to determine the correct cutting time for the lawn. The first bevel is performed after the emergence of cereals and before the germination of flowering plants. The second and the last haircut is carried out in the autumn, after the flowering of summer plants.
