However, about the body kit then no one knew anything, so "pennies" were all the same, differed only in color. True, there were luxury complete sets - they were put on metal chrome caps. Of course, the speed did not increase from this, but the view was slightly transformed.

The car has perfectly round headlights, which could have been borrowed from the BMW motorcycles, on which Germany triumphantly tried to enter the USSR in the distant 41st year. Designers who designed the "penny", did not know what airbags were, so the body design was chosen exactly the one that would impede the movement at high speeds. About the tests in a wind tunnel engineers then, apparently, did not think. Therefore, the body turned out so unpretentious. But he has an ideal repellent appearance. Of course, the mandatory elements of the exterior "penny" for summer residents - it's a towbar and trunk on the roof. The latter, by the way, not only worsens aerodynamics, but also increases fuel consumption.

Car Interior

Perhaps, the salon is not very different from the great-grandfather "Fiat 1100" (the year of production beginning in 1937). Model 21013 VAZ was designed according to the drawings, which were provided by the Italians. Nothing superfluous, everything is simple and understandable. Steering wheel, handbrake, three pedals and an instrument panel. Indeed, it fascinates, because it can be seen all the most important thing - the speed of the car, the charging current, the amount of gasoline in the tank. The steering wheel, however, was not very comfortable from the factory - its rim is thin. Yes, and the diameter of the steering wheel is too large, which makes management difficult.

For long trips VAZ-21013, the price of which at that time was 3000-4000 rubles (Soviet), this interior turned out to be very useful. Despite the fact that the VAZ 21013 technical characteristics were much worse than most European cars, and there was an uncanny appearance, this car became part of our history. It can be loved and hated, but it was issued 18 years, until 1988. True, not every inhabitant of our vast territory could buy it, but if it turned out that it was possible to save money and get it, then how much the status of a Soviet citizen increased noticeably.

He became mobile, could go to the popular Black Sea resorts in summer or with his family or take his beloved mother-in-law to the dacha. But most importantly - it is thanks to such cars that the male segment of the population has a tradition to gather in garages.
