Meister Amon Targarien from the "Game of Thrones"

For several years the television series "The Game of Thrones" continues to be one of the leaders on the screens. Among the many main characters with their struggle for the throne or attempts to revenge their modesty with the enemy is Meister Amon.

A short story "Games of Thrones"

"The Game of Thrones" is removed based on George Martin's book epic "Song of Ice and Fire". On the fictional continent of Västerås, after the death of King Robert, the war for power took place. Meanwhile, behind the giant ice wall in the north, erected many centuries ago, Evil has woken up and is slowly gathering strength. Once upon a time people managed to stop this Evil, but, foreseeing his return, on the Wall created a defensive system, the center of which is the Black Castle. It is inhabited by soldiers of the Night Watch, designed to protect people from the dark forces behind the Wall and not interfere in politics. However, with the years of patrols ever less, and the decisive battle between the living and the dead is approaching.

Origin and childhood of Eimon Targarien

One of the inhabitants of the Black Castle is Maister Eimon. At the time of the beginning of the epic, he is very old and blind, but this does not prevent him from fulfilling his duties: to treat sentinels and watch the crows (post birds). Few of the inhabitants of the castle know that a balding, wrinkled old man is a descendant of the noblest noble family of Västerås and could once become a king.

The future maester was born in the family of Targarienes, who for many years ruled Vesterosom, capturing him with the help of dragons. As the third child of the fourth son of the incumbent king, the young Amon had no prospect of taking the throne once. His crowned grandfather, noticing the boy's extraordinary mind, contrary to his son's desire, sent Aymon to study at Meister (scientists who took a celibacy vow, who served their knowledge to nobles).

When the boy turned nineteen, he brought the appropriate vows and became a mas- ter.

Meister Amon Targarien

Becoming a master, Amon condemned himself to lifelong service to people of lower background. At the same time, he remained an offspring of the royal family and as his relatives died, Amon became closer to the throne.

Unexpectedly, King Amon's father became king. Meister Amon got a chance to enter the Small Council, which dealt with all the vital issues of the country. However, Amon did not aspire to power and decided to retire from the court to the castle to his brother Deiron, where he got the place of a mister.

After the death of his father and elder brother, Amon was an applicant for the throne of Vesteras. The temptation to become king was great, but Amon resisted, giving up the throne in favor of his younger brother.

To once and for all put an end to, he went to serve in the Black Castle, where for many years he diligently fulfilled the duties of a mister.

However, later his nephew kidnapped the daughter of one of the noblest clans of the north - Starkov - and outraged her. The brothers of the girl, her fiancé and others dissatisfied with the rule of the Targarienes raised an uprising and exterminated all the relatives of Amon. Only his nephew's wife remained with the survivors, except for him, with two children who had left Vasteras. At this point, Maister Amon was again tempted to claim the throne or avenge his relatives, but he overcame him.

The last years and the death of Meister

After the extermination of Targarienes, the dynasty of the Baratheons ascended the throne. Despite the fact that Amon was Targarien and posing a threat to the ruling dynasty, mindful of his worthy behavior, he was not touched, and he lived quietly in the Black Castle.

However, after the death of King Robert Baratheon, the nobles again began a war of power. By that time, Amon was very old and did not go into politics. Especially because behind the Wall began to awaken Evil, and Amon understood this as no one.

Earlier than the outbreak of the civil war, John Snow appeared in the Black Castle , which in fact turned out to be the bastard of nephew Amon (it is not known whether Meister himself knew about this). Seeing a clever and worthy man in a young man, Maester tried to help him. Later John became the Lord Commander of the castle.

Meanwhile, one of the pretenders to the throne with the army turns up in the castle. Together with him the red priestess of the fiery deity arrives there. This woman was convinced of the incredible power of royal blood. The priestess esteemed human sacrifices as a particularly effective means to achieve her goals. To save the already very decrepit and blinded Aymon from an unenviable fate, John along with his loyal friends sends the master to the south. However, on the way the old man caught a cold and died.

Before his death, Amon learned of the rebirth of the dragons by his great-niece Deyneris. He wanted to go to her, but died before.

Meister Amon: actor Peter Vaughn

On the screen, the image of Amon was embodied by British actor Peter Vaughn. It is noteworthy that at the time of participation in the television series, Peter is really blind.

The future great master was born in April 1923. On the screen, he first appeared in thirty-three years in the television series Tales from Soho. After that he often starred in episodic roles in the cinema. Most often he got the role of policemen, as well as Soviet spies. Peter was married twice.

In the epic "The Song of Ice and Fire," the fourth book was the last one for the hero known as Meister Amon. "Game of Thrones" slightly "extended the life" of the character - the great mister was not at the end of the fifth season. In addition, in the series, Amon's death occurred in the Black Castle from old age. Unfortunately the fans, in the series this hero was given much less time than in the book, but still it was shown as a worthy admiration for the character.
