Where is Togliatti? Geographical position

This large Russian city is called by some old fashion "Stavropol on the Volga". Unfortunately, not everyone knows where Tolyatti is on the map of Russia. From this article you will learn about the geographical position of this locality.

Where is the city of Tolyatti relative to Moscow time? Timezone

For many years the Samara region and the city itself were in a separate time zone. As an experiment in the past, the Kuibyshev region (now Samara) was transferred to Moscow time. But it did not last long - just one year, from 1990 to 1991. The difference with Moscow is now +1 hour.

Geographical position

The left bank of the Volga is where Tolyatti is. From the city of Samara, a settlement is not far, 70 km up the middle course of the river. Tolyatti borders on the Stavropol district and Zhigulevsk. The total length of the city borders is more than 149 km.

Where Tolyatti is located is a steppe plateau. The city is located off the coast of the Kuibyshev reservoir. The southern border runs alongside the left bank of the reservoir. The central and eastern part of the city is covered with forests. To the west and north of it were agricultural lands. On the opposite side of the Volga River, the city borders the Zhigulevsky mountains and a settlement with the same name.

The place of connection of the three physical and geographical regions is where Tolyatti is located, namely:

  • Forest steppe Zavolzie;
  • The Samara Luke;
  • Melekess Lowland.

The city has three administrative districts. They border each other over a distance of 4-6 km. They are divided into forest tracts. The area of the city is more than 30 hectares, of which more than 25% are urban forest, industrial zones (18%), residential areas (17%), other lands are used for agricultural land, external transport, etc.
