A wonderful adaptation of the fairy tale about Mary Poppins conquered the hearts of millions of children throughout the Soviet Union, but few know details about the book itself and its author. A lot of adaptations, productions and imitators, that's what got the image of Mary Poppins.

Summary

The fairy tale begins with how the Banks family gathers for morning tea at the table and begins to reflect on the fact that they will need a new nanny. Many nannies were already working in this house, but none of them could find a common language with the children who live here, they are Michael, Jane and the twins: John and Barbara. And at this very moment the author Mary Poppins first appears on the pages of a fairy tale. This is a determined girl, who immediately appears to family members and says that she is their new nanny.

How Mary Poppins appeared

But to any member of a family it is not clear, how this young person at the house of Banks has appeared. It seems that she either emerged from the air or descended from the sky with her umbrella-cane, which is constantly in her hands. She loves family members of Banks, for them she is Miss Perfection, who does not and can not have any drawbacks, except for one thing - she loves to follow her reflection in the shop windows. But it's hardly a drawback, considering how charming Mary Poppins is.

The writer describes the new nanny of the family as strict and demanding, but the children are very pleased with her, because she understands them perfectly and can easily find a common language with them. She demonstrates to her pupils incredible tricks, gives a potion that turns into a scoop into ice cream, climbs up the staircase rails, unbuttons buttons and children's clothes hooks, just by looking at them.

Why the nanny likes children so much

Nanny is fascinated not only by children, animals and even statues find her wonderful. She introduces her charges to the boy with the dolphin, whose statue is in the city park and learns about the details of the life of a stray dog and one of the neighboring dogs, Mary Poppins is capable of all this. The fairy tale describes not just a good nanny, she has excellent manners and teaches the same children.

Like a real fairy nanny, she does magic things. She has not only an umbrella that she always carries with her, but also a huge carpet bag, in which there are a variety of things, sometimes such that in fact they are unlikely to fit in a bag of this size. Simply put, this is an excellent nanny, better not to think of. She is a real sorceress, but not ordinary, her main concern is the children she thinks about and can always come to their aid, even in the most unexpected situations.

Mary Poppins and her charges

The author Mary Poppins allows the reader to guess where this fairy nurse came from. When pupils Michael and Jane ask her about how much time with them she will remain, the witch replies that it depends only on the wind, because it is with his help that she moves from one family to another. Nurse shows his pupils a lot of miracles, but, strangely enough, this magic is interesting only for children, adults do not find anything remarkable in it. Mary Poppins tells her charges about what is happening in the zoo at night, about the house in which the children live, depicted on a porcelain dish, and shows them all this.

She tells the children how the stars appear in the sky. According to her, she herself refers there the small asterisks of foil that Jane and Michael make and glues them in the sky. Children are full of joy, they find themselves in a magical world, in a fairy tale full of magic and miracles, which any child dreams of. They worry only about the fact that when they become adults, they will forget about everything that happened to them. After all, very often adults forget what happened to them in childhood, but still children hope that in their hearts forever will be the best nanny in the world - Mary Poppins.
