Blood coagulation is a protective function of the body

A person in the spheres of his life activity and work quite often faces dangers. Especially it became noticeable in the technogenic era. It would seem that the development of progress should help reduce the danger to people in all senses. In practice, the picture is different - the more progress, the higher the risk of injury. Perhaps this is due to the adaptation of all mankind. After all, our ancient ancestors knew how to live normally in the jungle, and in other environments. Technogenic time relative to the time of human existence is still small. Whatever it was, quite often the clotting of blood often saves us from possible troubles.

What is this process - "blood clotting"? In fact, and in short, this is the process of formation of a thrombus in the wound. No matter how eerily the word thrombus sounds, it is he who saves us constantly from the loss of blood or its infection. A thrombus itself is a broken and clotted platelet. These cells are contained in human blood in the form of flat red plates of various shapes. The chemical reaction proceeds as follows. When the blood flows out, protein fibrogen breaks up and creates a filamentous network - fibrin. Further, the bulk of the blood - platelets - appear on the surface and are destroyed by the action of air pressure (pressure difference between atmospheric and intravenous). The destroyed mass coalesces and sticks into the net. This is the appearance of a thrombus - a kind of cork in the wound.

For normal functioning of the body, a certain amount of blood is needed (individually). It is from these natural considerations that the clotting time is within 5 minutes. Currently, there are many methods that allow you to determine the clotting time. If you take the average and the universally applicable techniques, it's 5 minutes for men and women. Since the blood is under great pressure in the body than the pressure of the environment, any scratch could simply kill you. But how then do the platelets in the blood pressure? It's all about the specifics of the environment. This specific substance can exist only in a plasma, which is under pressure. If the plasma is removed, it is destroyed.

The norm in children deserves special attention. If for adults, an average of 5 minutes - coagulability, the norm in children is slightly higher. In practice this indicator lies in the range of 8 ... 10 minutes, and sometimes even more. This is due to the fact that the blood composition, like the whole organism, is still different in some indicators in children. In particular, the fibrinogen protein is not always excreted from the vessels in time, and the number of platelets may be less (difficulty in forming the thrombus - little material) or large (slow process). In any case, the baby's body needs to be given more time to turn off the blood. This is one of the problems of mothers - the need for constant supervision, since a long time of unfolding contributes to the possibility of infection.

However, the process of blood clotting is not always all debugged. It is not known what led to such a pathology, but there is a disease - hemophilia. This disease is inherited and can not be acquired. In this case, blood coagulation does not occur due to the absence of one of the components of the chemical coagulation reaction. Perhaps the violation of the reaction itself, but, again, due to the absence of one of the components. For such people, a scratch is a huge problem, and a fight is really a fight for survival. But there are still some ways of partially solving this problem.

For this, special drugs are used, the main task of which is to have a haemostatic effect or to improve blood clotting. By the way, there are also drugs, which, on the contrary, slow down this process. Anticoagulants or antiaggregants prevent formation of a filamentous fibrin network. This is very helpful for doctors in long and difficult operations, when it is important that blood oozes from the wound and the wound does not heal.
