Childhood future skater

Maria Petrova is a figure skater of the Russian Federation. She was born on November 29, 1977 in the city of Leningrad.
Her parents had a relationship with the sport. Mom, Tatyana Valterovna, professionally engaged in skis. However, the seven-year-old Masha on the family council decided to give to figure skating. Then no one could have imagined that the daughter would become an outstanding athlete. The only desire of the parents was to correct Masha's poor health. Sports went to the girl for good. The duo quickly achieved great success: winning the junior competitions, as well as the gold medal at the Russian Championship in 1995 brought Petrova and Sikharulidze a place in the main national team. Maria Petrova did not stay long without a couple . The figure skater in the spring of the same year began to perform in a duet with Alexei Tikhonov. This athlete was already quite famous. In the summer of 1998, Tikhonov returned to St. Petersburg without warning. He began to offer Mary again to perform in a duet. There was no trust in him, so Petrova refused for a long time. Mom convinced her.

The couple began to train hard. Four months later, the athletes won the first victory at the Grand Prix. The next achievement is the "gold" of the European Championship in the Czech Republic.
