"Caliph stork" - one of the most famous fairy tales of the great Hauf. It is permeated with oriental motifs. By its motives, television and animated films were created. Let us recall its brief content.

«Caliph Stork». Introduction

Baghdad Caliph Chassid sat quietly in his quarters in his chambers, smoked his favorite rosewood pipe and drank fragrant coffee, which was poured into his bowl by a slave. The mood of the noble was beautiful, nothing foreshadowed the bad. At such moments with him it was possible to talk about any topic, ask for anything. It was at this time that the wise vizier of his Mansor loved to visit his master. So this evening he was visited by the faithful servant of his caliph. He came and told Hasid that a merchant of trinkets was standing near his palace and offering his goods. Caliph wanted to please his Vizier on this beautiful evening, and he sent his slave to this street vendor. When the latter came to them, the grandees bought him guns for himself and a magnificent comb for his wife Mansor. When the merchant was about to leave, the vizier noticed a black box and an old manuscript attached to him. About the fact that is in the casket, the seller did not know and invited the nobles to buy it from him. So they did. The Caliph could not read the ancient manuscript and ordered to call Selim the gramotee, who knew all languages. The scientist who came could still figure out what is written in this scroll and announced this to the nobles. He said that here there is a secret message: "Anyone who sniffs the powder from this casket and utters the magic word" Mutabor "will turn into any animal into which he will and will understand the language of all the animals and birds on earth. In order to return to the old form, three times bow to the east and say the same word. But, woe to him who laughs in the guise of an animal. Then that person will forget the magic word and will forever remain a beast. " After hearing all this, the vizier and the caliph decided the next day to try the action of a wonderful powder on themselves. They did not really believe in his power. The next chapter will tell about what happened next (its brief content).

«Caliph Stork». Developments

The next day, as soon as it dawned, Hasid and Mansur went to the garden to find some animals there and to overhear their conversations. After wandering there for a while and not finding anything remarkable, they go to the old pond, where the storks live. "It's here that the time has come for a miracle to happen," they both decide, breathe in the magic powder and utter the word "mutabor." In a moment the caliph and his faithful vizier turn into storks. They hear the conversations of these amazing birds and understand them. Looking at each other, the grandees laughed, and when they came to, it was too late. The magic word, which was supposed to turn them into people again, they did not remember. Long they wandered in such a guise over the swamp, and then went to Baghdad to the palace. There they saw a festive procession of the people in honor of electing a new lord of the glorious city. They became Mizra - the son of the deadly enemy of Caliph Chasid, the magician Kashnur. So our heroes became aware of who bewitched them. That merchant from the street was sent to them by treacherous Kashnur. Who can help their trouble, Hasid and Manzur did not know. They decided to go to Mecca for the grave of the prophet, hoping there to find answers to their questions. On the way there, flying over the valley, they saw some ruins that once were a beautiful palace. Storks went down there to spend the night. In one of the rooms they heard someone crying quietly. Going to his sound, Hasid and Manzur saw a large night owl in one of the dilapidated rooms. She told her travelers a sad story. It turned out that this owl - an enchanted princess, the daughter of the king of India. Turned into an owl by her wicked wizard Kashnur, who often flies into this castle to arrange feasts for his associates. Hasid and Manzur realized that this was their chance to be human again. After all, it is possible that one of these gatherings will utter a word that they have forgotten. For her help, the owl asked that one of them take her as his wife. Since the vizier was already married, the choice fell on the idle caliph. Only then will the wicked spell fail, and the owl will turn into a girl again, Hasid agreed to marry the princess without even knowing what she looks like. What ended this amazing story, the next chapter (its brief content) will tell.

«Caliph Stork». Decoupling

Finally, the decisive moment came. Kashnur flew into the castle with his companions. There was also a street vendor who deceived our heroes. At the feast he told that the caliph and his faithful vizier forgot the word "mutabor" and now they will go to the storks till the end of their days. Hasid and Manzur heard it all. They immediately repeated the word and bowed three times to the east. A moment, and they again became human beings. Turning around, they saw a beautiful girl. It was the princess - now the wife of the caliph. The appearance of the owl in it already reminded nothing. As soon as these miracles were accomplished, the travelers went to Baghdad, where the people had already rebelled against Mizra and his evil father. Everyone took the appearance of the Caliph with joy. He again became the ruler of this glorious city. Kashnura Caliph ordered to hang in the same dungeon where a night owl recently lived. And his stupid son, he offered a choice: death or smell the magic powder from a black box. He chose the latter and turned into an animal. He was locked in a cage and put in a garden for everyone to see. And Caliph Hasid lived with his wife long and happily. This concludes this amazing story (here it is a brief summary).
