LFK with Bekhterev's disease: a set of exercises. Physiotherapy

Because of the pathologies of the joints, many elderly people suffer. In some cases, diseases of the musculoskeletal system occur in young and middle age. Most often, articular pathologies are associated with obesity, malnutrition, a constant strain on the spine and limbs. Nevertheless, there are also such ailments that are due to heredity, that is, they are transmitted at the genetic level. One of such pathologies is Bekhterev's disease. This ailment affects not only the articular tissue, but also the bone system of the spine. As a result, the movements become limited. In severe cases, a person can not walk at all. In order not to bring to such a state, exercise therapy is recommended for Bekhterev's disease. Correctly selected set of exercises and diet reduce the risk of progression of pathology several times.

What is Bechterew's disease?

Unlike the common pathologies of joints and bones (arthrosis, osteochondrosis), Bekhterev's disease develops in adolescence and at a young age. Often, the ailment is found in men, nevertheless, it exists among the female population. Another pathology name is ankylosing spondylitis. This term means an inflammatory reaction in vertebral discs and joints. As a result of chronic damage to the tissues of the spine, ankyloses occur. This means that the neighboring bones "knit together" with each other. Often, these phenomena occur between the vertebrae. As a result, the patient can not move normally. To avoid this, or at least to suspend the process, therapeutic exercise is prescribed for Bekhterev's disease. It helps to keep mobility for as long as possible.

Causes and prevalence of pathology

This disease refers to systemic pathologies that affect connective tissue. Most of all, the cartilaginous formations located between the vertebrae are subjected to destruction. At the moment, the etiology of Bekhterev's disease is not fully understood. Nevertheless, scientists involved in rheumatology and immunology, found that the pathology is more common in people who have the gene HLA-B27. His carrier is inherited. People whose DNA encounters this gene get sick much more often. Nevertheless, the absence of an aggravated hereditary anamnesis does not at all guarantee that pathology can not develop.

Naturally, physical education can not lead to a complete cure and reorganization of the genome. Nevertheless, exercise therapy not only strengthens the musculoskeletal system, but also the whole body. Thanks to exercises, blood circulation and immune defense improves. Consequently, therapeutic exercise reduces the risk of predisposing factors (stress, infection).

Bechterew's disease in women: symptoms of pathology

The first signs of pathology are painful sensations in the lumbar region, with extension of the back. They are caused by the fact that at the beginning of the disease the sacral and iliac joints are affected. Then spreads throughout the spine. In some cases, other joints are affected. Most often these are knee and ankle joints. Another sign of this pathology is the defeat of the Achilles tendon. This is manifested by the edema and soreness of the plantar surface, the change in its shape, the formation of the heel spur. Sometimes these symptoms occur in the first place.

Another clinical manifestation is radiculitis. Patients complain that the cervical region and limbs, as it were, "shoots through". This is due to inflammation of the nerve roots. Such symptoms usually disturb at night (from 3 to 5 am). In addition, the patient's body temperature rises, the organs of vision become inflamed (sensation of sand in the eyes), weight loss is observed. This clinical picture is common among the male population. It is much easier for Bekhterev's disease in women. Symptoms are not so pronounced, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for a long time stop the unpleasant sensations in the joints.

LFK in ankylosing spondylitis

Exercises are carried out in a lying position, sitting and standing. Exercise for Bechterew's disease is prescribed for all patients, regardless of gender and age. In the sitting position, the following exercises are performed:

  1. Development of the humeral joint. Hands should be parallel to the trunk. The shoulder joint should alternately be "twisted" inward (towards the body) and outward. This exercise must be repeated up to 10 times.
  2. Place the palms on the elbow joint of the opposite arm. Raise them over your head. To make slopes to the left, and then - to the right. On each side it is necessary to perform 5 exercises.
  3. Clasp your knees with your hands. To reach out to them with the whole body (trunk). Then you need to straighten the spine and spread your hands to the side. This exercise helps to strengthen the muscles of the back.

Exercises for Bechterew's disease are necessary in order to prevent the adhesion of bones. When performing movements in the joints of development, ankylosis does not occur.

Pathology of Ankylosing spondylitis: treatment

There is no specific treatment for this pathology. For a long time the patient uses NSAIDs, which help get rid of unpleasant sensations. This group includes drugs "Diclofenac", "Artoxane", "Indomethacin". Also important is gymnastics with Bekhterev's disease. It helps to maintain the mobility of the spine for a long time. In the position lying on the back, the following exercises are performed:

  1. You need to be on a flat, solid surface. Legs bend at the knees, hands should lie along the trunk. For correct execution it is necessary to alternately breed ankle joints. In doing so, you should try not to move your knees much.
  2. Raise your head without lifting the shoulder joints from the floor. Socks need to pull on themselves and look at them. This exercise is performed 8-10 times.

What is the purpose of exercise therapy for Bechterew's disease?

To the patient for a long time to keep the ability to move, you need therapeutic exercise. LFK with Bekhterev's disease helps to develop affected joints. Regardless of how disrupted their function, exercises must be performed daily. Therapeutic physical training helps with cervical and lumbar osteochondrosis. It is also aimed at preventing inflammatory phenomena in other joints. With constant performance of the exercises, the disease rarely progresses. Despite the fact that the special treatment of this disease has not yet been developed, exercise significantly improves the prognosis.

Proper nutrition in the pathology of Bechterew

Diet for Bechterew's disease is needed to strengthen the joint tissue. Also, it should be aimed at avoiding obesity. After all, excess weight only aggravates pathology. Nutrition of the patient should be balanced. It is necessary to include in the diet products containing microelements and vitamins. It is recommended to eat as much vegetables as possible. Especially it concerns carrots, cabbage and beets. From the diet you need to exclude fatty meat, mayonnaise. If possible, refresh dishes with olive or linseed oil. It is also necessary to reduce salt intake. Recommended use of greens, dried fruits and nuts. Food should be steamed or cooked.

What exercises need to be performed with Bekhterev's disease?

The complex of exercises with Bekhterev's disease is aimed at strengthening the muscles, developing joints, restoring coordination of movements. It is recommended to do c- and extensor movements of the head, lower back. Also in the lying position, the joints of the upper and lower extremities are developed. For this, the fingers need to be squeezed. Then take a deep breath. After that, the fingers must be unclamped. Exercises should not be accompanied by pain. Charge is best done in the morning, as patients feel bad after waking up (due to prolonged stay in one position). Also, patients are shown massage and swimming.
