Legendary Indian bodybuilder Manohar Aich. Biography of "Mr. Universe"

In every sport there are stars and idols, on which millions are equal. In bodybuilding, you can recall the names of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Frank Zane, Lou Ferigno, Ronnie Coleman, Phil Heath and many others. Among them there is one more person - Manohar Aich, whose biography will become a wonderful motivation for hundreds of thousands of people around the world. The great man, who received the title "The oldest bodybuilder," died June 5, 2016, when he was 104 (!) Year. Plus, even at such a respectable age, he kept a great shape.

Birth and childhood

The famous Indian bodybuilder was born in a small village of Dhamti, which is located in Bangladesh. This joyful event happened on March 17, 1912. The family of the future sportsman did not have a high standing in the society, so that the childhood of Manohar was quite heavy.

Already from an early age the boy showed his love for power sports, among which there were especially weightlifting and freestyle wrestling. At the age of 12 Aich survived a black fever, which significantly undermined the health of the future bodybuilder. Nevertheless, thanks to regular physical loads, he managed to restore strength, which gave hope for the realization of dreams.

It was in those years, he drew attention to bodybuilding, still quite poorly developed, not only in Asia, but throughout the world. The first training sessions of Manohar consisted of push-ups, sit-ups, leg lifts, all kinds of pull-ups and twists. Basic exercises became the basis of physical work, developed the main muscle groups.

Bangladesh (as well as India) is not the richest country in the world, so there were no specially equipped halls at that time. For this reason Manohar Haych worked, as a rule, with his own weight, only occasionally complicating the exercises with improvised objects.

Youth and mature age

Over time, the athlete began performing in the regional show "The body and magic in Dhaka." Manohar demonstrated impressive tricks, poses and other elements that fascinated millions of viewers throughout the state. A guy from Dhaka (the capital of Bangladesh) was very popular, which helped him in his career as a bodybuilder. Speaking of the above show, you can name a few of the most spectacular techniques performed by the hero of our article: the bending of steel bars with teeth, lying on sharp swords, bending of the copies with the pointing of the point to the neck and others. As you can see, quite dangerous stunts, requiring considerable skill on the part of the athlete. Already at the age of 20, the fans dubbed Aich "Pocket Hercules" because of his low growth of 150 cm.

Manohar Aich was married, married with a loving wife gave a bodybuilder four children (2 sons and 2 daughters). Unfortunately, at that time Aicha was constantly harassed by poverty, which is very characteristic of the people of Bangladesh and India. The family was barely making ends meet so that children could go to school.

Manohar often interrupted small-scale work to earn some money, but did not abandon his favorite sport. The biography of this man is reminiscent of a determined struggle for a place under the sun and world recognition.

The first successes in bodybuilding

Acquaintance with the simulators, designed for bodybuilding, occurred in Aich in 1942, when he joined the army. India in those years was a colony of Britain, so the service was held under the flags of the British colonial government.

As strange and surprising as it may sound, Manohar Haych bought a wonderful form in prison, where he got involved in anti-British demonstrations.

The first successes of Aich could be observed in 1950, when he won the "Mr. Hercules" competition. The efforts of the bodybuilder began to bear fruit, and the financial situation was significantly improved.

This victory was a real inspiration for Aich, for this reason he decided to perform at the most prestigious championship in the world of bodybuilding in those years - "Mr. Universe", held then in London. Exhausting training, adherence to the regime and proper nutrition did their job, in 1952 Manohar won the title, becoming a true idol for millions of followers.

Since then, many championships and competitions have had as their winner one name - Manohar Aich. "Mr. Universe", unfortunately, he no longer succumbed, but his name in the history of sports, he still made. The further motivation of the bodybuilder was the material aspect, so that his wife and children needed nothing, lived a happy and joyful life.

Recent years and death

Last years were marked by the measured everyday life of the sportsman, passed in a circle of a family and relatives. He did not train very often, considering the age, it's easy to guess that it was, more likely, out of habit, in order to maintain health and give time to your favorite hobby. He also helped the business of one of his sons, who opened his own fitness center.

Legendary Indian bodybuilder Manohar Aich died, as mentioned above, on June 5, 2016, at the 105th year of his life. As the son of the athlete said, the cause of death was health problems.

In one of the interviews, the bodybuilder Manohar Aich said that he does not regret anything in his life, only one dream failed to come true: he did not meet with Arnold Schwarzenegger, whom he always wanted to meet.

Nutrition and bad habits

According to the athlete, he never experienced a weakness for alcohol, drank very rarely. Moreover, in most cases it was reduced to one glass of champagne or wine on holidays. As for smoking, Aich did not have any problems with this, because he never smoked.

But nutrition, according to the bodybuilder, was one of the elements of what gave him so long and rich life. Manohar tried to always eat right, using in his diet fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, low-fat meat and lentils.

Manohar Haych is a truly cult person, he left a notable mark in the history of bodybuilding. His life was full of difficulties, but the athlete was able to overcome them and reach extraordinary heights.
