For many seasons in a row, the Jacquard pattern on knitted clothes remains fashionable. Why a colorful ornament called jacquard? How to tie this pattern? Why are some of them called "lazy"? We will try to answer these questions in this article.

How did the name get a pattern?

At the beginning of the nineteenth century a special loom appeared , which made it possible to create patterned fabrics by means of a complex weave of threads. The inventor of it was Joseph Maria Jacquard. On his behalf received the name and pattern.

At home, you can tie such patterns with knitting needles. Schemes, as a rule, uncomplicated, and even a novice skilled worker will understand them.

Jacquard patterns are quite intricate, with a lot of interlacing of threads and colors, but there are also those that are pretty simple to perform.

The difficulty of knitting patterns from several threads

The tying of a multicolored ornament from several tangles at once is quite difficult and only an experienced knitter can do. It will take a lot of patience and attention - over a number of times to untie the pattern, you have to change the threads several times. The difficulty is also that the tangles are tangled and rolled, and even those threads that do not participate in knitting, pull together the canvas, passing on the wrong side.

If the vertical gap between two colors is more than two rows, then it is necessary to cross the threads in addition. This is necessary in order for the new thread to press the previous one, which has already been knitted. If this is not done, vertical faults form in the canvas.

All these subtleties slow the process of creating the product and affect the quality of the work.

Why are some jacquards "lazy"?

Uncomplicated in the performance of patterns in knitting lovers are called "lazy jacquard". Schemes are arranged in such a way that two rows of knitting, one after another, are knitted from one tangle, while the other colors appear from the loops of the previous ones that are removed or stretched in a special way. This is very convenient for work, since the craftsmen do not get tangled with some tangles, the canvas itself is not pulled together on the wrong side because of the threads of the thread.

Sometimes in the literature on knitting there are such names as False jacquard, lazy ornament or simply - lazy pattern. Perhaps, these names are given to these knits because they do not require a high level of skill and great experience in knitting, they also knit much faster than classic jacquards.

It's no accident that many knitters use lazy jacquards in their products. Patterns of patterns are composed in such a way that during the knitting process, there is no need to change the thread, every two rows are created from one tangle. This makes the work easier and faster.

Features of creation

We'll figure out how to fit a lazy jacquard. Schemes of it, like all the others, consist of front and back rows. Features of the pattern are as follows:

• First, both rows - front and back - are knit with one thread from one tangle. It changes only at the side, on the right edge of the canvas.
• Secondly, when facial rows are knit (on schemes they are, as a rule, odd), the thread, which is knit, is left in the removed loops for work. And vice versa, when the purl (or even) rows are tied, the thread is led before the canvas. As a result of this rule, broaches, just like in classic jacquards, remain on the wrong side.
• Thirdly, when creating the purl series, the loops are tied according to the scheme, just as they lie on the spoke (usually purl). If a loop is encountered, then it is removed again unrolled, following the rule indicated above.

Where is the multicolored pattern applied?

Knits are always fashionable and popular. Ornaments in the national style remain relevant at all times. In children's blouses, trousers, overalls bright and multicolored patterns are used, as well as patterned mittens. Lazy jacquard knit many products. Women's pullovers, jackets and other outfits are usually decorated with an etched ornament of two or three colors. And for men's knitted vests and sweaters, as a rule, strict and discreet two-tone motifs are used.

If you decide to create such patterns with knitting needles, schemes can be taken in books and magazines on needlework. And some masters come up with their own.

A perfect pattern for knitting a cap, sweater or mittens is a lazy jacquard. Schemes are quite common. The creative approach used by some knitters to create products, makes them come up with new "lazy" patterns. This is not so simple as it seems, because it is necessary to take into account those patterns that we noted above.

We will tell in detail how to connect one of the two-color patterns, called "lazy jacquard". Diagrams with a description of knitting are also given below.

Pattern "vertical stripes"

This jacquard is a vertical striped strip of two colors. It is perfect for making clothes for babies, mittens and mitts, it will look good on the hat, can be used on cuffs and other finishing elements. The hinges are arranged so that the canvas looks great when switching to an elastic band of any mating.

So, let's choose two colors of yarn and prepare to knit a lazy jacquard with knitting needles. The master class includes a step-by-step description of the creation of this pattern.

Set of loops

Need to type on the spokes thread of one of the two selected colors the number of loops, which will be divided into four, then add three more loops to maintain the symmetry of the pattern and two - for the edge loops. For example, we knit a small sample and type 20 loops (5 fragments of 4 loops), 3 for symmetry and 2 edges. Only 25 loops.

1st row

We use a thread of the same color as the hinges. The sequence of creating the series will be as follows:

• Leave the edge loop (just remove, leaving the thread before work);
• We knit three facial, remove one loop without loosening - repeat this several times (in our sample - four);
• At the end of the series - three facial;
• Edge loop, which is tied with the front.

2nd row

We continue to work with a thread of the same color. First remove the edge loop without tying. Then knit 3 facial, after which 1 loop is simply removed, passing the thread in front of the canvas. We repeat this procedure several times. The last edge loop again we sew the front one.

3rd row

We introduce a thread of the second color. Edge loop (just removed). Let's make 1 face loop, after which we will repeat this sequence several times: one loop - we remove, passing the thread behind it, three - we sew the front ones. After we repeat this pattern to the end of the series, there must remain two loops. One knit the front for symmetry of the pattern, the second - the edge, it is also tied with the front.

4th row

We use the same thread as in the third row. At the beginning of the series, as usual, the edge loop, which, like throughout the entire work, should simply be removed. Next, you need to tie one face loop, for symmetry repeating it several times: one - remove, thread while leading before the loop, and three - knit with facial. At the end of the row, one face and one edge loop again knit.

So we got to the end of the scheme. A lazy jacquard knits further, while repeating in sequence the work from the first to the fourth row.

Pattern "diagonal relief"

We bring to your attention one more lazy jacquard with knitting needles. A master class with the description of knitting of a cloth from threads of two colors, a photo and the scheme are resulted more low. When knitting this pattern, all the rules of the lazy jacquard, which we described above, apply. As a result, we get a spectacular binding, in which diagonal strips of two colors alternate. Such an ornament is suitable for a sweater, waistcoat, mittens, cuffs of socks and other products.

Description knitting pattern

Step 1-st . We select loops and we will string a string with a thread of one of the chosen colors. The number of loops must be a multiple of six plus two edge loops. We will have 20 loops. We will not consider this row in the pattern, it is needed for the basis.

Step 2-nd . We proceed to the pattern. In the first row we take a yarn of a different color.

1. First, form the edge loop, just remove it on the spoke, and the next we sew a new thread. In this row, we begin the creation of the pattern itself, for which we alternately bend and remove the loops, according to the scheme and description. We impose two facial loops (for symmetry of the pattern), and then we repeat this combination: one - we remove, five - we knit the facial. In our sample there will be two such repetitions, after which the loop taken and the three faces are performed again. The row ends with a loop loop.
2. The second row is knitted with the same thread on the reverse side, while the removed loops - we remove, and the rest we are tying as purl. This is how all even rows will be executed in our work, so they are not indicated in the diagram.
3. The third row starts with the edge loop, then - one front and one removed loop. Next, the combination for repetition: three facial, removed, facial, removed. We mess up so several times. At the end of the series are three facial and removed. We finish with a loop loop.
4. The fourth row is knit, like all the purlins.
5. In the fifth row, after the edge loop, 4 facial knit, and then, as in the first row, the alternation of one removed and five facial is repeated. At the end of our sample one knitted and one face knit, and after them - edge.
6. The sixth row is purl.
7. After the initial edge knit, facial, removed, facial, removed, and then repeated combination (as in the third row) of the three facial, removed, facial, removed. At the end of the row, two front and end edges are sewn.
8. The eighth row is knitted by purl and taken off the pattern.
9. The ninth row after the edge loop immediately starts repeating the combination of one removed and five facial. We finish the edgeband.
10. In the tenth row we knit, as in all purlins.
11. The eleventh row starts the edge loop and after that it is a repeating combination (as in the third row) of three facial, removed, obverse and removed loops. The row ends with a border loop.
12. The twelfth row is purl.

Step 3-rd . Repeat the pattern the required number of times, tying alternately from the first to the 12th row.

Even if, after the detailed descriptions given, there are questions about how to tie this lazy jacquard, the schemes should make final clarity. Below we have a diagram where the cells of two colors denote the rows of knitting. An empty cell denotes a normal front loop, and a cell with a J sign indicates that the loop needs to be removed. Wrong rows are not marked on the chart, because they, as we said above, are knit with the same thread on the wrong side, according to the pattern: the removed loops are removed, and the rest are knitted.

Lazy jacquards - beautiful, simple and practical

Knitting of such patterns usually uses the remains of yarn, you can also knit from the thread, which was previously knitted cloth, which was dissolved. This will not affect the quality of the work. Lazy jacquards uniquely mask the flaws of the thread and the inexperience of the master.
