Ukrainian costume and its main differences
Ukrainian national clothes are particularly picturesque, its attractive appearance indicates a high level of production culture, excellent possession of various sewing techniques and types of finishing. By its cut, the national clothes of Ukrainians have some similarities with the costumes of the Slavic peoples and the Turkic ones.
Male national Ukrainian costume
Ukrainian costume involves wearing a shirt that must be tucked into your pants, which is not typical for Russian and Belarusian costumes. For sewing trousers (sharovar) we use canvas or woolen fabrics of bright colors - red, blue, green. Particularly picturesque, the trousers are given a very large width.
As outerwear used wool scrolls, in winter - made from sheepskin tanned casings. And women's scrolls must necessarily have a white color, men's can be gray or black.
Female Ukrainian costume
The main detail that distinguishes a Ukrainian Ukrainian costume is a shirt. It can be integral, length in the floor, or consist of two parts - the top and the paddles. Long shirts are considered more festive.
Shirts are sewn in two types: on a coquette (with inserts) and tunic-shaped. For the Ukrainian women's shirt is characterized by finishing the embroidery of the hem - by the rules he should look out from under the outer clothing. In an old suit, the skirt consisted of two halves - the front and the back, each of which had a separate string. Over time, the front half of the skirt turned into an apron. Most often, the back half of the skirt (plumage or spare) in a modern Ukrainian suit is sewn from fabric to cage, the apron is made of monophonic fabric and is decorated with a very rich finish: embroidery, braid, handmade lace.
As for headdresses, the male Ukrainian costume assumes the presence of a hat. In general, fur is used for its production (high-quality sheepskin), cloth or wool. The shape of the caps can be quite diverse: cylindrical, conical, semicircular. Summer headdresses - flews - are weaving out of straw.
Girls' headdresses are wreaths, known for their beauty, made of live or artificial flowers, decorated with ribbons. Sometimes capes, scarves, ribbons can be used. The characteristic difference - they always leave an open braid, which is the pride and adornment of the girl. The headdress of a married woman is a kerchief or a long scarf, similar to a towel. He puts on so that the hair is closed completely. In the old days, to appear in society or in a church with an uncovered head was considered an unacceptable act for a Slavic woman.
