This amazing parkland is located on the bank of the Don, one kilometer from Malinovsky Prospekt. From the large and spacious glades of the complex open amazing scenery of the river.

In spring and summer, these picturesque sites become a place of pilgrimage for citizens who come here for picnics, organize tent camps. Fishing fans are also sent here. And although the sanitary service does not recommend swimming here, since there is no official beach on this stretch of the beach, nevertheless, many townspeople come here just to sit by the water and escape from the city bustle.

And in winter, when the river is covered with solid ice, skating enthusiasts gather here and those who do not think themselves without winter fishing.

Memorial

But townspeople and visitors come here not only to breathe fresh air and take a walk along the alleys of the park, but also pay tribute to the Soviet soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War. It is here that the famous in Rostov memorial "Kumzhenskaya Grove" is located.

It was built in 1983. The memorial commemorates the memory of the soldiers of the Red Army who died during the city's invasion in 1941 and 1943. The large complex includes several monuments and a mass grave. The memorial "Kumzhenskaya Roshcha" was given the status of an object included in the regional list of cultural heritage.

The complex includes five pylons and four stelae of glory, as well as a monument called "Storm" and several memorable plates. They are engraved on the names of those combat units that participated in the battles for the liberation of Rostov.

Monuments stand along the main avenue of the park. The "Sturm" monument is the central object of the memorial "Kumzhenskaya Grove". He is a sculptural group, mounted on a granite pedestal and personifying soldiers going into battle.

Behind them stands a 18-meter arrow indicating the direction of the main strike of our troops. Immediately next to the monument is the mass grave of fighters who died near Rostov. And on the granite plates their names are engraved.

It must be said that the author of the monument depicted in the sculptural group of the real liberators of the city: Alexander Nozadze - a native of Abkhazia and the political instructor, the company commander, the national korel, Lieutenant Vladimir Milovidov, and the commander of the machine-gunners Alexei Filippov.

How to get there?

Those who travel by public transport, you need to take bus number 34, from the Central Market to the stop "GPZ-10". However, it is easier and faster to get a taxi or a private car. It is necessary to go to Malinovsky Street, then - to the Western Bridge, from the second traffic light from the gas station turn right. After driving about a kilometer, you should cross the Dead Donets River, and then turn from the restaurant sign "Donskaya Roshcha" in the direction indicated.
