For Minskers, Komarovka is not only a place for shopping. They rest here, make dates. This brings children and guests of the capital to admire the sculptural compositions and fountain. In front of the market there is a large playground where New Year, City Day and other holidays are celebrated.

Once in the Komarovsky market, you can not go home without buying. But it was not always so.

History

In the century before last, the village of Komarovka was located on this land. It belonged to the princes of the Radziwills. After the war in 1812, the village became the property of the Minsk landowner Stanislav Vankovich, and later became part of the city.

Until 1925 Komarovka was a swampy terrain. In the area where the urban poor lived, insanitary conditions dominated, infectious diseases spread. Where there is a brisk trade today, there was a clean field on which S. Utochkin made indicative flights.

After draining the marshes, the terrain was built up with new houses and various buildings. There was an institute of physical culture, the square of the Belarusian poet Yakub Kolas, a giant furniture store. Trolleybuses and trams ran along the streets. Near the House of Furniture is a collective-farm market, named after the former village of Komarovsky.

Architecture of the structure

Although the Komarovsky market in Minsk was designed on the basis of the shopping center of Chelyabinsk, the architectural features of Komarovka are unique. The roof was collected from light instrument panels, fastened with thirty-seven ropes.

Each rope consists of one hundred twenty-four super-strong steel wires. Breaking strength is about three hundred tons. Ropes are tightened around the perimeter of the edge of the roof, which makes the structure easy. The highest point of the dome is raised to the height of a ten-story house - 26 meters from the ground.

The exterior facades are finished with a colored rubber coating, golden glass and polished granite.

Komarovsky market in Minsk was designed by architects V. Aladov, A. Zheldakov, V. Krivosheev, M. Tkachuk.

Sculptures

Near the market there is a multi-stage fountain and a city sculpture. Authors compositions - V. Zhbanov, A. Tukhto, O. Kupriyanov, E. Kolchev.

The idea to decorate Komarovka with sculptures appeared at the beginning of the zero ones. The attention of the directorate of the trading company was offered by different objects, but the winner was the famous Belarusian sculptor Vladimir Zhbanov. He presented sculptures "Lady with a Dog" and "Photographer". Objects are placed as if a bronze lady is posing in front of an old camera.

No less interesting is the sculpture "Horse", performed by V. Zhbanov in collaboration with Alexander Tukhto. It seems that the animal came to the watering place. On the back of the horse there is a small bronze sparrow, which unscrupulous citizens unscrew from time to time, and the city authorities have to restore the composition. On the steps of the fountain bronze geese found their place. This is the joint work of Vladimir Zhbanov and Yevgeny Kolchev. Important, proud birds, like a horse, seek to quench their thirst.

Sculptor Oleg Kupriyanov immortalized a woman with seeds in the image of the grandmother Komarikha. A burly elderly woman not only offers goods to customers, but also feeds birds. Over the grandmother of bronze flaunts a sign: "Komarovsky market. Opening hours from 9.00 to 19.00. The day off is Monday. "

Sculptural compositions of Komarovka became another attraction of the city. Here children play and tourists are photographed.
