Kapolka is a reliable sealant

A spike is a type of seal used in a moist environment. It looks like a strand of fibrous material woven in a certain way (1-, 2- or 3-stranded) and impregnated with a special solution. The fiber can be natural and synthetic. The composition of the impregnation depends on the scope of application of the cap. The main purpose of the cable is plumbing.

Characteristic

Most often, natural fibers are used to produce the cabbage : hemp, jute, linseed, agave and other plants. There are fibers from synthetic materials: polyamide, polypropylene. After treatment with impregnating compounds, the cap has the following characteristics:

  • Load at break - not less than 27 kg;
  • The proportion of impregnation - at least 40%;
  • The rate of evaporation of the impregnation is not more than 1%;
  • The density is not less than 1.00 grams per cubic centimeter.

Fiber weaving provides a long service life due to high biological resistance.

Impregnation

As impregnation apply a variety of compositions: oily (including machine oil), petroleum bitumen, resin-bituminous mastics, antifouling, anticorrosive, antiseptic.

Impregnation is that the fiber is immersed in a preheated composition and maintains there a certain amount of time, sometimes up to several days. This technology allows for deep penetration and the required percentage of fiber impregnation. Kabulka is an excellent sealant for many kinds of pipes, with which it is simple and convenient to work. Quality impregnation protects the sealant from rotting, and pipes from rust.

To prevent the material from drying out, storage and transport are carried out in hermetically sealed containers. It is packed with bays. These can be plastic buckets or bags protecting the product from sunlight and heat. The labels indicate weight and diameter.

For the professionals, the fiber thickness and the impregnation composition are important. The area of its application depends on this. For example, plumbing works with a water pipe require a cabochka with a light impregnation without a smell, so as not to spoil the quality of drinking water. For the sewer, a dark sealant, impregnated with bituminous resin, is suitable. It is able to withstand prolonged contact with sewage without loss of its properties.

Kabulka is also a kind of bandy pakli with impregnation. It is also used to seal the socket, especially large diameters. They produce fibers of flax, hemp, from the processing waste . Impregnated with resin of coniferous trees or with E-1 (antirust and anticorrosive impregnation). The composition of the pakli can include jute, hemp and other ingredients.

Benefits

The plumb line is the most popular sealant. Its use does not require special equipment or specific knowledge and skills. With such a seal, both the plumber and the home master will cope. The product made of natural fibers, treated with resin impregnation has a number of features:

  • Does not accumulate static voltage;
  • Resistant to thermal and solar radiation;
  • Has chemical stability in contact with sewage;
  • Does not release harmful substances when heated;
  • The maximum temperature at which this type of cable is possible is 160 0 , which allows the use of a sealant when installing a steam heating system.

disadvantages

For all its versatility, the rope has a number of negative aspects, which, nevertheless, do not affect the popularity of the seal:

  • Ropes made of natural fibers are prone to rot, therefore require special impregnation;
  • Easily ignite;
  • Black dirty hands and working gloves impenetrable impregnation;
  • Not very high breaking load.

Scope of application

In many cases, an effective and inexpensive sealant is precisely the kapolka. The price for some brands of the product is given in the table:

The versatility of the cabbage and the technical characteristics make it possible to use it for many works:

  • Installation of sewer and water pipes;
  • Filling joints between beams during the construction of bridge crossings;
  • Use as a seal for the casings of pipelines in places where they pass through the foundations of buildings or any structures;
  • In large-panel housing construction for embedding of voids;
  • For the caulking of the lower wreath of log houses of wooden houses;
  • For caulking boats or vessels made of wood;
  • Use instead of a pakley for padding along the edges of the beam when assembling logs;
  • Used in the manufacture of cables (for sailing ships).

Kabulka is a convenient, environmentally friendly, easy-to-use material, which is still a priority for a large army of plumbers, builders, sailors.
