Is the right steering ban right?

Till now disputes in the higher echelons of the power on a question of import and operation of cars at which the steering wheel is on the right do not cease.

The prohibition of the right steering wheel, in accordance with the adopted technical regulations, shall enter into force on January 1, 2015. This provision will apply only to categories M2 and M3 - passenger buses. This rule will operate on the territory of the Single Customs Union, which includes Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. In Belarus and Kazakhstan there is already a full ban on right-hand drive vehicles everywhere.

Justifying the ban right hand, the members of the Government of the Russian Federation mainly refer to the provision of road safety. However, the percentage of road accidents involving right-hand and left-hand cars shows that cars intended for right-hand traffic Which the steering wheel is on the left, fall into an accident more often than cars with a right-hand drive. The conclusion here is simple. The bill, imposing a ban on the right-hand drive, is mainly aimed at combating the import of cheap second-hand Japanese cars. Cars from Japan were deservedly popular due to their high quality and reliability. A small fuel consumption compared, for example, with American cars, also speaks in favor of the acquisition of Japanese vehicles.

Almost all the motorists who sat behind the wheel of the "Japanese" say that they did not feel any discomfort when driving a car with a right-hand drive.

Many experts believe that, to a large extent, the ban is imposed due to the creation of high competition in the used car market of Japan. Almost all of the Far East uses second-hand Japanese cars, which make up more than half of the car market there. In addition, many families have two or three such cars. The introduction of increased duties on import of Japanese foreign cars brought to naught the given market of used cars. As a result, the state treasury lost a significant part of its profits to the budget. Is it too expensive to support the domestic car industry? The ban on the importation of the right rudder initiates the interest of Russians to inexpensive foreign cars and domestic cars. As a result, the increase in demand will invariably lead to higher prices for cars.

Of course, nothing terrible will happen, especially since already imported Japanese cars can be continued to operate until their resources are exhausted. Such a promise was given, at least.

Technical regulations prohibiting the import and operation of cars with right-hand drive, refers to unpopular laws. Such measures hurt painfully, above all, for ordinary people. If the inhabitants of the European regions, where there are not so many right-handed cars, this bill does not affect much, for the Far East such a decision will become a real problem.

Just recently, most of the population of the Far Eastern regions lived by buying and selling cars and spare parts from Japan. Today this type of business has died.

The right-hand drive ban will not bring anything good to anyone, especially since there are no such restrictions anywhere in the world.
