International Day of Peace. What is this amazing holiday?

Now is the time of tolerance and compromise. Now people are trying not to fight, but to resolve all disputes by peaceful negotiations. As a result, ordinary people quietly go to work, live, fall in love, raise children. Experiencing for different trifles, for example, as if not to miss the bus, what work is better to be arranged, what color to buy a new jacket. Parents teach children not to fight and not to conflict, to help their neighbors and not to quarrel, they have adopted it from their parents, who in turn taught them, and these pillars are unshakable. But not everywhere it is decided to solve issues peacefully. Somewhere on the globe people of some distant country suffer from military operations and dream that everything will be as before.

War in humans in the blood

It would seem that now is the era of negotiations and peaceful solutions to conflicts. However, very often you can see or read in the news about more and more new fighting. The war in one country did not have time to abate, as another begins to fight. And after watching - and some other unfortunate country suffers from fire from large and small guns. Why is this happening? All because of disagreements in opinions and views. And also this is done because of such primitive things as greed, envy and the desire to enrich. Sometimes it even seems that the war is a man's blood. And to remind the world that humanity has recently entered a civilized era, it is necessary to resolve conflicts peacefully, and the person is a good and peaceful being, the International Day of Peace was created.

A few figures

Researchers in 2008 did a grandiose job, considering how many "reasonable people" fought since the beginning of the existence of a cultural civilization. The figures are terrifying. Starting counting from 3600 BC. And up to then 2008, mankind did not fight only for about 292 years, which is 5% of the total number of the existence of a cultural society. It's no wonder why bloodshed are going on right now-it's in the blood of a man. And that's why the UN began to sound the alarm and established the International Day of Peace. Indeed, indeed, all countries persevere about peace in the world.

International Day of Peace

This world peace celebration was adopted in 1981 by the UN General Assembly by resolution 36/67 and was celebrated on the third Tuesday of September. It was devoted to the strengthening of peaceful relations and love for each other both between peoples and countries, and within each individual state. A couple of decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly developed resolution 55/282, which indicated that, starting in 2002, the International Day of Peace will be celebrated on September 21 and will symbolize the "Day of Non-Violence and Cessation of Hostilities."

Reaction of masses

In adopting this resolution, the UN hoped for the support of people. And they got it. Having learned that the International Peace Day was celebrating , millions of not indifferent people rose up and started not only talking about peace, but also doing something to achieve the future without wars and violence. On this day, September 21, many youth, social organizations and simply not indifferent people hold different events, demonstrations and actions that call for abandoning weapons, forgetting about hatred and remembering love for one's neighbor. Also on this day, the opportunity to exchange experiences with other peace-keeping organizations from different cities and even countries is not lost, and also to draw the attention of individual groups of people and organizations to the problems of peaceful coexistence.

The members of the UN also do not bypass the International Day of Peace. On September 21 of each year, the UN Secretary-General addresses in New York near the Peace Bell, followed by a blow to this very bell and then a minute of silence. Also this holiday is annually thematic, for example "Youth for development and peace", "The right to a world of nations", etc.

Celebrating a "peaceful" holiday

This holiday is celebrated all over the world, and our country is not an exception. In many cities of the world and our homeland of peace, various youth organizations are constantly reminded of their activities. Also, you can not only focus on the indifferent, but celebrate this event on the city or even the state level.

The scenario of the event for the International Day of Peace can be roughly the following. A big concert in the city square (or other type of settlement) with several famous stars that call for "living together." In the intervals between performances, it would be nice to show what conflicts are taking place in the world and human losses not only among servicemen, but also among civilians. Nowhere and without the symbol of peace - white pigeons, which will be released by children at the end of the holiday. Also these celebrations can be made thematic. For example, "We fight for human rights", "Friendship of Peoples", "Creation of Peace in the World", etc. In general, the International Day of Peace should inspire people to peaceful coexistence with each other and individual nations with other inhabitants of the cultural world.
