What is a PSUL for windows? Field of application

PSUL for windows is a pre-compressed sealing tape. Apply it usually when installing plastic and wooden windows for hydro and thermal insulation. The tape PSUL can be of different length, thickness, and have a different degree of expansion. Everything depends on the actual size of the structure being installed.

Description

PSUL is a self-expanding tape made of polyurethane elastic foam, which is impregnated with a mixture of modified acrylic. It significantly improves the properties of polyurethane seals, increasing their resistance to aging. On the market, the tape comes in a compressed state, twisted into rollers. Dimensions of the sealant are different, so it can be matched to any seam. Tape PSUL for windows has a layer of glue on the surface, which simplifies its use. In addition, it does not allow her to shift. Strongly compressed film expands only after removing the packaging. Perhaps a fivefold increase in thickness.

PSUL for windows has many positive qualities - it is very elastic, it can take almost any form, it is resistant to ultraviolet rays and heavy rains, it perfectly provides the outlet of water condensate from the product to the atmosphere. Due to its plasticity it can fill any slits. The PSUL tape can be used with almost any building materials: concrete, brick, steel, wood, plastic and other materials.

Where PSUL is used

The scope of self-expanding tapes are:

  • Sealing of cracks in prefabricated structures, joints of ventilation ducts, gutters, abutments of shingles, sewerage;
  • Sealing of joints, blocks, movable fixed joints.

Also, STCS for windows is used to seal the gaps between the opening and the door frame.

Foamed polyurethane tape impregnated with special acrylic adhesive, suitable for both outdoor and indoor use. It is recommended to use tape sealant in residential and industrial buildings.

Material properties

Excellent material - PSUL for windows. The technical characteristics of the tape allow long-term use of the products on which it is used. Here for what qualities it is appreciated:

  • Based on polyurethane foamed with impregnation based on acrylic glue;
  • Thickness of the tape in the compressed state - from 2 mm, in the expanded - up to 80 mm;
  • Resistance to deformation - not less than 14%;
  • Temperature resistance - up to +1000 degrees;
  • Fire resistance class - hardly flammable;
  • Operation at temperature from -50 С to +90 С;
  • Do not allow wind and moisture to enter the seam;
  • The PSUL tape for windows does not collapse from various weather precipitations;
  • Resistant to solar ultraviolet;
  • Provides ventilation of the seam, filters the formed steam;
  • The tape sealant is chemically neutral;
  • It allows sealing joints with uneven surfaces, for example with a brick wall;
  • Allows you to work at absolutely any temperature of the air;
  • Does not crack with time, while retaining elasticity;
  • Can withstand (up to three hours) a pressure of 600 kPa.

Installation of windows using PSUL

It is customary to call installation works on installing a frame without wings and double-glazed windows on support pads. The window should be oriented absolutely perfectly in accordance with the readings of the measuring instruments. What is PSUL for windows and what is needed?

The vapor-permeable hermelent is used for installation and serves as an excellent protection of foam from the side of the street from the effects of ultraviolet and moisture, prevents the reproduction of mold and fungus, removes excess moisture from the assembly seam. Installing PSUL should be mandatory (in accordance with GOST). This sealing tape is placed on the frame all around the perimeter just before the installation - in the joint or in the seam, to increase the service life and to avoid freezing or leaking. The protection of the assembly seam from the outside should be vapor-permeable, that is, the entire condensate of moisture that forms in the foam pores at a temperature drop should be discharged outside.

To solve all these problems and use PSUL - gray or black porous strip of elastic material (like foam) with special acrylic impregnation. Installation is carried out directly from the coil (roll). This technology was first used by the German corporation "Illbruck". Now, in our country, the use of PSUL is no longer a rarity.
