Day of the nurse is celebrated for about 150 years. However, officially it began to be celebrated only in January 1974. Mankind still remembered the merits of these brave women. The International Day of the Nurse began to celebrate when the sisters of mercy were united from various countries, the number of which was 141. A professional public organization, the International Council of Nurses, was formed.

Russia is a little behind with the adoption of this holiday. And only in 1993 it was decided to make it to the general list. This suggests that Nurses Day is a relatively young holiday.
