Gerasimenko Nikolai Fedorovich, whose biography is inextricably linked with Siberia, was born on December 1, 1950 in the Altai Territory (the village of Verkh-Suyotka).

After finishing secondary school there, he entered the Altai Medical Institute for a medical faculty. Since 1973, he got a job as a surgeon in the Blagoveshchensk central district hospital. There he grew up to the post of head of department and chief doctor.

From 1980 to 1985, his workplaces were: sanitary aviation, where he was a head of department, and Altai Regional Clinical Hospital, where he served as deputy chief physician for surgery.

In 1990, Gerasimenko Nikolai Fedorovich took up the post of head of the Health Committee for the Altai Territory. Moving to the administrative and public service, he did not leave scientific research.

He was elected three times to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Twice he served as chairman of the Committee for Health and Sports.

Professor Gerasimenko developed a new original training program for the organization of public health, scientific and pedagogical and legal activities, medical legislation and law.
