Interferon for children

Frequent catarrhal diseases and weakened immunity for today are by no means considered a rarity, but rather a pattern. "Interferon" for children helps to solve this problem. This drug is considered a fairly effective immunomodulating agent, which is used for both treatment and prevention.

Interferon for children

Interferon is a protein preparation that is made from donor blood leukocytes . Leukocytes, or white blood cells - are just those components of the blood that are responsible for most of the immune responses.

Produce this medicine in the form of a powder, which is contained in ampoules. Each such ampoule contains about two milligrams of the drug.

Spreading through the body, interferon slows the rate of development of infectious diseases of viral origin. It also stimulates the work of leukocytes and macrophages. This means that the drug itself does not destroy viruses - it helps the body to fight the infection on its own. It is thanks to this that this remedy increases the level of immune defense.

How to properly dilute interferon in ampoules? For children, as for adults, this drug should be properly diluted. The rules here are very simple. Open the ampoule and mix its contents with two milliliters of warm water (with a temperature of not more than 37 degrees). The result is a solution for instillations and inhalations with a characteristic reddish color. The liquid can be stored for no more than two days, but only in a cold place, preferably in a refrigerator.

Interferon for children: instructions for use

The exact dosage and regimen will be assigned to you by the pediatrician. But there are some general recommendations:

  • As a prophylactic drug can be used twice a day, digging into each nostril for five drops. Ensure that the interval between the procedures is not less than six hours.
  • If the child has already managed to catch the flu or some other catarrhal disease, then the reception schedule must be changed. In each nostril, it is necessary to drip 5 drops. The interval between the procedures should be from one to two hours. In a day it is necessary to conduct at least five instillations.

There is another way to apply the medication - this is inhalation. To prepare a solution for inhalation, mix the contents of three ampoules of the preparation with 10 milliliters of distilled (purified) warm water. You can use any inhaler. The child can inhale steam with both nose and mouth - the effect will be the same. During the day, it is necessary to carry out at least two procedures.

It is worth noting one important fact - with too frequent and long-term use of interferon, the child's body gets used to the drug and does not react to it. In this case, consult a doctor about similar medications.
