Installation of the circulation pump in the heating system by one's own hands
In order to make life in the house as comfortable as possible in the winter, it is necessary to perform such an operation as the installation of a circulating pump in the heating system. The procedure is not too complicated and can be performed independently if necessary. But, of course, you will first have to find equipment suitable for all parameters, as well as familiarize yourself with the technology of its installation.
Benefits of using
Systems with natural coolant circulation have a number of disadvantages. First, in the house it is necessary to mount pipes with too large diameter. This is necessary in order for the water to circulate freely over them, not lingering anywhere. Secondly, when installing such a system it is necessary to calculate the slope of the pipes. Well and thirdly, the equipment of this type is not too convenient to use.
Installation of the circulation pump in the heating system allows to solve all these problems. Pipes can be thin when used. It is not necessary to make a slope in such systems, the heat is evenly distributed throughout the rooms. To install such a pump can also be included in a system with a natural circulation of the coolant. In this case, when the electricity is turned off, the house does not remain without heating.
Varieties
At the moment, only two main types of circulation pumps are produced: with "wet running" and conventional ones. The first variety is not very powerful, it works noiselessly and is used usually in country houses and cottages. Most often this single-phase equipment.
Installation of the circulation pump in the heating system of the apartment building is the same as for the private small building network. However, at the same time, conventional equipment is used, that is, in which the rotor and the stator are separated from the cochlea by a waterproof membrane. The installation is carried out on the highway in a separate room - a boiler room. The fact is that such pumps work very noisily. This three-phase powerful equipment, requiring, among other things, periodic lubrication.
How to choose the right one
Before proceeding with such a procedure as installing a circulating pump in a heating system (you can do it yourself, as you will soon be able to see), you should, of course, purchase all the necessary equipment. So, in the event that you need a pump for a private house, it is worth buying a single-phase model with a "wet running" of the rotor. For a multi-family home or a very large cottage suitable three-phase powerful pumps.
In any case, when purchasing, you should study the technical passport of the model. In this case, first of all, you need to pay attention to the following parameters:
- Performance. This indicator is usually expressed in liters or cubic meters. It means the volume of fluid that the pump can pass through itself in an hour. In order to find the right model, you need to know how much water is pumped into the system. The performance value should exceed this figure by about three times.
- Head. This parameter shows how hard the pump can draw in the coolant. The device should easily cope with the pumping of water in all bends of heating, if necessary, raise it to the upper floors, etc. For example, for an apartment building it will be necessary to purchase equipment with a head about 20 m. A less powerful model is also suitable for a cottage.
Very convenient in use are circulating pumps with automation. Such a model can be put on a timer, and it will itself be shut off and turned on if necessary.
Basic Installation Rules
Most often, the installation of the circulation pump in the heating system is carried out through a bypass, called bypass. In this case, when the power is turned off, the system is switched to natural circulation without any problems. In order to start the water directly, you just have to close the valves on the bypass.
The circulating pump is installed only on the return pipe between the last radiator and the heating boiler. This is due to the fact that the pump does not push water, but sucks it. In addition, under the influence of a very hot coolant in the supply pipe, its mechanisms quickly fail.
Between the pump and the boiler, only a manometer, a thermometer and a pressure relief valve are installed. Directly next to it, a filter is mounted on the bypass. In any heating system there are a lot of different debris: scales, sludge, etc. Without the filter, the impeller of the pump will quickly be blocked, as a result of which it will simply fail.
Performing an operation such as installing a circulation pump in the heating system of a private house, it is necessary to follow such recommendations:
- If the tie-in is made to an existing network, water should first be drained from the pipelines. At the same time, the pipeline must be thoroughly rinsed.
- After completing the complete installation cycle, the system is again filled with water.
- All joints must be lubricated with a sealant.
- At the final stage, you should open the central screw on the pump casing and release excess air from it.
How to install
The installation of the circulation pump in the heating system by one's own hands is carried out as follows:
- In the planned section of the return pipe a piece is cut, the length of which must be equal to the width of the bypass.
- T-pieces are installed on both ends.
- These elements are connected by a piece of pipe with a valve mounted in it.
- To each tee is connected on the L-shaped piece of pipe with nuts on the end and valves.
- On one of the L-shaped pieces a filter is installed (between the valve and the pump).
- The nuts are screwed to the nipples of the circulation pump.
Install the device in such a way that the coolant subsequently moves in the direction indicated by the arrow on the body. In addition, the place for its insertion should be chosen in such a way that access to it is not subsequently hindered.
How to connect to mains
When using the above-described method of installing a circulation pump, its shaft will be located in a horizontal position. In this case, air will not accumulate in it, preventing lubrication of the bearings. In addition, when installing the device, be sure to ensure that the terminal box is located on top.
Connect the electric pump to the mains by observing all the prescribed safety rules. The power cord must be provided with a plug or switch. The minimum distance between the axes of the contacts is 3 mm. The cross-section of the cable is not less than 0.75 mm. Of course, the pump must be connected to a grounded outlet.
One or more?
Usually in a private house only one circulation pump is installed in the heating system. The capacity of modern equipment of this type is sufficient to ensure a sufficient flow rate of the coolant. Two pumps are included in the system only if the total length of the pipes exceeds 80 m.
Can I install without a bypass
On the bypass pipe, the circulating pump is usually installed in an open type heating system . In this case, if necessary, the owners of the country house there is the possibility of switching the network to the natural current of the coolant. If the system is designed without slopes, the pump can be installed in the pipe and without a bypass. In this case, the installation is made directly into the return line. In this case, the shut-off valve must also be installed. This will make it easy to remove the device for repair or replacement without the need for draining the system.
Such a procedure, such as the installation of a circulation pump in a heating system without a bypass, is usually done only if there is an alternative source of electricity in the house. It can be, for example, a modern gasoline or diesel generator. In this case, if there is a sudden power outage, the building will not be left without heating.
How to install on polypropylene
Now let's see how the installation of the circulation pump in the heating system is done in this case. Polypropylene - the material is light enough and easy to use. In this case, the equipment is connected as follows:
- Special connections are soldered to the ends of the trunk (3/4).
- Then cranes are attached to them using flax.
- Then the latter are connected with the pump assembly by means of the shocks.
Rules of operation
Modern circulation pumps are reliable and long-lasting. But, of course, sometimes this equipment is out of order. This trouble can happen, for example, because of:
- Too strong or weak water supply,
- Operation without a coolant in the system,
- In the case of long downtime,
- If the water is heated too much (above +65 g).
How to dismantle
So, we have considered how the installation of a circulation pump is made in a closed and open heating system. Now let's discuss how to remove this equipment if it is necessary to repair it or replace it. This procedure consists of only a few steps:
- The pump is de-energized,
- The valves on the bypass are closed,
- Opens the tap on the main highway,
- Unscrew the fastening nuts.
In the event that the pump is installed in the system for a long time, it is likely to prove to be impetuous. Therefore, it will have to be knocked out by the tapping of the kayak.
To repair the pump yourself, if the owner of the house does not have enough experience in this business, it will hardly be possible. Most likely, it will have to be carried to the repair shop. But most of the owners of out-of-town buildings still install new equipment into the system, the benefit of pumps today is not too expensive.
