Igor Oistrakh: short biography

It's not easy to be a child of a genius gifted person. There are three paths: the first - to become a boy-major and lead to a non-binding life, the second - to radically change the profession and in no case to follow in the footsteps of parents. And the third - the most difficult - to continue the dynasty. Igor Oistrakh chose the third.

Family affairs

Igor, or, as he later will be called home, Garik, was born in 1931 in Odessa in the family of a young, promising violinist. In 23 years to get in an unreliable time beginner musician child somehow scary. What funds will David Oistrakh support his family? Probably, the young violinist had a headache, but he was not afraid of difficulties, and six years later he was overwhelmed with success - the Grand Prix of the international competition in Brussels.

First steps

Igor's first teacher was an Odessa citizen, who moved to Moscow, where the family of Oistrakhs already lived. In six years he began his homework, and the teacher set his hands perfectly. But Igor Oistrakh threw the violin, because he could not extract from it the same sounds as his dad. And only during the war in Sverdlovsk resumed classes, in 1941. Two years later, the first successes appeared, and the boy believed in himself. He quickly came to the execution of virtuoso works in the Central Music School, when he returned from evacuation to Moscow, and began to take seriously study. At the age of 16 he first performed at a concert with his father. That's where everyone started comparing their game. The deepest lyricism that characterized his father, Igor was not peculiar. He, as it turned out, equally tends to both drama and lyrics.

Competition in Budapest

In 1949, the Central Music School was completed, and it was a successful debut at the International Festival of Youth and Students. Igor Oistrakh shared the first prize with the Soviet violinist E. Grach. The year 49 was also the year Igor entered the conservatory. During his studies, Igor Oistrakh, despite the latent struggle with the domination of Jews in music, gave many demonstrative concerts. On them he showed himself mature, technical, with his own handwriting and perusal of the musician's works.

Competition in Poznan

In 1952 an international competition was to be held for them. Venyavsky. Igor carefully prepared, but before him was the task of not "rolling over" the contest program. It must be performed and virtuoso, and fresh. A special impression on the members of the jury was made by the final - the performance by I. Oistrakh of the Second Venyavsky concerto. The victory went to him. He was profound and virtuosic. Therefore, in 1953, as part of the Soviet delegation, a fifth-year student was sent on a tour to London. Since that time the music world has learned about it.

Marriage

In 1960, Igor Oistrakh met the one everyone dreams about. Pianist Natalia Zertsalova became his chosen one. They have a continuer of the dynasty Oistrakhov - son Valery. The spouse subsequently became his constant partner. They together did a tremendous job of recording 10 Beethoven sonatas for piano and violin. Igor Oistrakh by this time has finished postgraduate study and conducted active concert activity both in the native land, and abroad, acting as one, and together with the father. Very often, speaking in duets, David Oistrakh played the viola, and the son - on the violin. Their joint work continued until the death of David Fedorovich in 1974.

Behind the conductor's desk

For the first time in 1968, he stood in front of the orchestra at home and in the same year made his debut as a conductor in Copenhagen. Repertoire Oistrakh Igor Davidovich picked carefully, and he grew rapidly. These were the works of Haydn, Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Richard Strauss.

Speeches with his son Valery

Igor Oistrakh increasingly rose up for the conductor's console, and his adult twenty-six-year-old son easily and uninhibitedly performed his games. Especially Berlin public noted their harmonious game both in the human plane, and in the spirit of artistic harmony, singling out the fifth symphony of Tchaikovsky. Its Russian content was fully felt by the listeners. On the tour in Los Angeles, Igor Oistrakh listened to the legendary Yasha Kheifets. It was felt that the speech of I. Oistrakh made an impression on him.

A creative union of 50 years

We have already spoken about the recordings of Beethoven's sonatas, but I want to emphasize that the conjugal life of I. Oistrakh and N. Zertsalova has developed exclusively harmoniously both in everyday life and on stage. They both worked hard, and it was noted that they became members of the Beethoven Society in Bonn. They recorded all the sonatas for Mozart's violin and piano. In 2010, their golden wedding took place. The life and creative ways of wonderful musicians have been intertwined happily. Their great joy was the achievements of his son Valery, who, continuing the Oistrakh dynasty, became a professor at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels in 1996.

Since 1996, the whole family lives and works in Belgium. Igor Oistrakh, whose biography developed exceptionally happily, owes this not only to heredity, but to the enormous diligence and understanding of all members of his family.
