Hypoplasia of the endometrium and its role in infertility

Hypoplasia is an innate pathology that occurs during intrauterine development and is characterized by underdevelopment of tissues, organs and the body as a whole (microsomia or nanism). It can have a combined form and manifest violations in the structure and structure of several organs at once.

To date, quite often, endometrial hypoplasia is diagnosed. Many factors contribute to the development of this pathology. Among them, one can name the effect of infectious or viral factors on the body of a pregnant woman, which leads to a disruption in the laying and development of the fetal organs. The most dangerous in this regard are rubella, toxoplasmosis and influenza.

Hypoplasia of various organs in a child can occur when smoking a pregnant woman, drinking alcohol or certain pharmacological drugs. In addition, underdevelopment of the uterus and endometrial hypoplasia can develop with fetal injuries, overheating, or gamma-ray effects even during intrauterine development. In addition to lesions of the genital organs, hypoplasia of the thyroid gland and kidneys can develop.

Thinning of the endometrium can be diagnosed in women of childbearing age if they have chronic endometritis - inflammation of the inner mucous layer of the uterus, as well as in violation of its normal blood supply or under conditions of changes in the work of receptors that are sensitive to estrogens.

How to treat endometrial hyperplasia? This is determined after the ultrasound monitoring.

It is worth noting the important role of the thickness of the mucous layer of the uterus in a woman's ability to become pregnant. So, the endometrium consists of a functional and basal layer. During menstruation, the functional layer of the endometrium is rejected, but due to the regenerative properties of the basal endometrium, it is restored in the next cycle.

Why does the endometrium thicken and increase its blood filling? These processes are regulated by hormones and are aimed at preparing the inner layer of the uterus for the implantation of a fertilized egg. In cases where the embryo is implanted in the endometrium, pregnancy occurs. If this does not occur, menstrual bleeding starts, in which the thickened functional endometrium leaves the uterine cavity. That is why endometrial hypoplasia reduces the likelihood of pregnancy and its normal course.

Hypoplasia of the endometrium: treatment depends on the degree of thinning of this layer. The appointment of high doses of estrogen and low doses of aspirin, physiotherapy, non-traditional medicine (hirudotherapy or acupuncture), other techniques aimed at improving blood circulation in the small pelvis, as well as herbal remedies based on sage can be used. It should be remembered that any violations of the endometrium should be eliminated taking into account their etiology. Unfortunately, such violations are not amenable to therapy, and the effect of the treatment is temporary.
