How to read crochet patterns? Legend: knitting lessons

Having mastered crochet, the masters with pleasure begin to realize their creative fantasies. There are many different drawings - you just have to choose and start working. In order for them not to cause difficulties, one must learn to read crochet patterns. Then even a novice needlewoman will cope with the most intricate feint.

Crocheting with the description of models in a foreign language can be especially difficult. But the conventions are in most cases standard. And, understanding their meaning, it's quite easy to manage the pattern.

The scheme in the form of a rectangle

Circuits are rectangular and circular, they are divided in the direction of knitting, which is indicated by an arrow. Read the picture from the lower right corner, it is from there that the first row begins. Odd rows go from the right to the left, and the even ones - on the contrary.

It turns out that the product is tied with a snake. The work must be deployed in front of each new row and perform several air loops for lifting, sometimes they are not indicated on the diagrams. A rotation is also not shown, so it is simply assumed.

Circular scheme

How to read crochet patterns if they are round? This is done from the middle to the edges and counterclockwise. The first row, as a base, usually consists of columns without a crochet. The end of the row is closed by a connecting post, and the next row starts with lifting loops. If knitting is provided in a spiral, then they are not made.

To begin work on the first row, a chain of air loops is knitted and is closed in a circle with the help of a half-tube. The required quantity is indicated by a number in the center of the circuit. If it is not indicated, knit by eye, usually requires 6-8 loops.

Ring of Amigurs

Instead of a circle from the chain, you can make a sliding loop, then in the center there will be no free space, this is necessary for knitted small toys or motifs. It is also called the ring amigurami. On schemes, usually Japanese, is designated as a circle, inside which is a hieroglyph.

So, the algorithm is simple:

  1. We make a ring of thread, for this we wind it on two fingers and, holding it so that it does not dissolve, we remove it.
  2. Pick up the main thread and pull out the loop.
  3. We make a half-column - fix the beginning of the series.
  4. We send the first row, and, pulling the free tail, tighten the sliding loop.

Air loop

The standard notation for crochet is shown in the table:

The first basic element, which is designated as an oval or a circle, is an air loop. Usually it is not painted in the center, but sometimes it is depicted in diagrams as a fat black dot.

Accordingly, the chain of loops looks like a series of ovals, in complex diagrams it is denoted by an arch. The number in the center means the number of loops.

Half-Column

The element is used mainly for joining parts or ending a row. It is also called a connecting or deaf post. Knowing what it is used for, it is very easy to determine it on a diagram. In the drawings it is represented by a small semicircle or a dot, it is still encountered as a small horizontal bar or an inverted triangle. Sometimes it is shown as a "+" sign.

Stack without crochet

Let's start with the simplest techniques to master the needlework. Knit crocheted canvas or complex pattern involves the use of a column without a crochet. In diagrams, it is depicted as a "+", vertical line or "x".

One of their simple tricks actually has several options, depending on how the hook is inserted into the previous row: the thread is picked up through the front or back half loop. It is designated as "x" and a semicircle, at the base curved, respectively, down or up.

More complex ways of knitting a column without a crochet do not have characteristic defining signs and are explained in the description.

Half cake with cuffs

This method of crocheting is performed as a crocheted column, which requires the simultaneous tying of three loops on the hook. This element on the diagrams looks like the letter "T".

Curb with crochet

Depending on the number of nakidov column can be of different heights. On the diagrams, it looks like a vertically arranged feature, and the number of required capes is shown in horizontal or inclined strokes.

Knowing how to read crochet patterns, you can learn the relief patterns. In them, columns with a crochet are convex or concave. Facial (convex) perform with the picking of the thread under the bottom column, so that the column of the lower row is located above the hook. For the inside (concave) posts it is necessary that it be under it. Graphically denoted as a column with a crochet, but below with a semicircle, rotated, respectively, to the right or left side.

Unfinished columns with a crochet

Let's proceed to more complex tricks, which are based on the previous simple elements. Unfinished columns with a crochet are required not only for complex drawings, but also for reducing loops.

On the diagrams they are designated as several columns with a crochet (the number depends on the need), connected from above.

Lush Column

Embossed patterns look impressive. how Read crochet patterns, if there was a desire to master them, let's consider in more detail. Often in such figures there is a designation in the form of a drop. This is a magnificent column, which can be done in two ways:

  1. Make a crochet and draw the working thread to the required length, leaving three loops on the hook, repeat two more times. Then the thread is dragged through all the loops, then the magnificent column is closed by tying one loop.
  2. Make five unfinished columns from one loop, then close all the loops at the same time.

Kuleček

This interesting element is performed for all its apparent complexity quite simply. It is necessary to connect five columns with a crochet from one loop, and then stretch the thread through the loops of the first and last column. Thus, a hole is obtained in the middle. There is also the name "corn".

Pico of three air loops

Surely needlewomen are interested in how to read crochet patterns of air drawings and edge bandages in which the image of a small, pointed drop is encountered. This common technique is called a pico, done in the following way: a column without a crochet, then three air loops, and in the same loop of the previous row, execute one more column without the crochet.

Tunisian knitting

Special technology involves working only on the front side, the method of tying loops. In diagrams, it looks like a vertical line above which there is a wavy line. A hook with a long handle is needed, at the end of which a bonnet is provided so that the hinges do not descend.

Tunisian crocheting is easy to learn:

  1. Through the first loop stretch the thread and, leaving it on the hook, type thus the loops of the whole row.
  2. Now the series should be closed: extend the working thread through the first loop, and then through the next two. Pairing the loops, they reach the end of the row.
  3. The next row is again necessary to dial. The hook is inserted under the outstretched hinges of the previous row and the new hinges are pulled out.
  4. The last row must be tied with connecting posts so that the edge of the web holds the form.

Knitwear is dense, it almost does not stretch and is great for skirts or coats.
