How to make a pipe bend with your own hands? It's simple

How to make a pipe bend with your own hands? The question, of course, is interesting.

The idea to make a pipe bend with one's own hands arose due to the fact that one often has to bend a pipe (for example, when replacing pipes at a dacha or in an apartment) for further installation, and it is not possible to buy pipe benders, simply because of financial issues.

Let's immediately specify the possibility of making a self-made pipe.

Before creating such a tool with your own hands, you need to determine what type of products you will work with. After all, different efforts are required for different in thickness and diameter of the product. There are also two processes: "cold" and "hot".

Most often you have to deal with suture pipes. They need to be bent so that the seam is on the side, since in the usual bending of such a pipe from the inside there is a certain "rush" of metal, and on the convex surfaces the metal becomes substantially thinner.

Let's talk about how to make a simple pipe bender for more common pipes - 25 mm in diameter.

You can make such a pipe bender with your own hands in two ways.

1. The first method is suitable for the "cold" bending method with thin and galvanized walls with a diameter of 20-25 mm. In this homemade bender, there must be a stop for the pipe, the winch and two rollers per diameter.

2. About the second method, there are many articles on the Internet and, if you have a desire, you can dig and read these articles.

And we'll talk about how to make a pipe bender with our own hands for bending by a cold method.

We will need a conventional cement slurry (in the ratio of sand and cement one to four), prepared in any suitable container (bucket or pelvis), trimming from pipes with thick walls with a diameter of 70-100 millimeters, also suitable channel.

Cuttings of pipes must be cemented strictly vertically (at ninety degrees) on the surface of the cement pad. The distance between each element should be no less than forty to fifty millimeters, more - not desirable.

Thus, the workpiece can be bent, as much as possible by bending it to the base of a hand bender made by one's own hands (practically you lay the pipe on the cement slab itself).

Now we are talking about a "hot" method of bending pipe products.

The main advantage of this method is that in this case it is possible to keep the smooth lines and not to meet with the grossest errors in the trajectories.

To bend this method also uses a self-made pipe bender, made by the hands of the above description, but the technology of bending the pipe is different.

It is necessary to fill the pipe section with river sand (it does not stick to the surface inside the pipe).

Then it is necessary to plug the end with a wooden stopper (the length of such plug / die should be equal to two diameters of the pipe itself).

The second end of the pipe is plugged in the same way as the first. However, do not forget to drill a few small holes at the very end of the pipe first, so that when heated, vapors and gases can escape.

The area that you need to warm up, you need to mark with chalk (it will be more convenient to work).

If you need to make a 90 degree bend, then heat the pipe section equal to its six diameters, 45 degrees to three diameters, and 60 degrees to a section equal to four diameters.

After you have warmed up, you will only have one chance to bend, and in any case, do not allow the sparking of metal.

When bending, use the same homemade pipe bender that you made for a specific pattern.

If you follow the advice given above correctly, you will not have to face difficulties in the work and there will be no need to purchase an expensive tool. Since the manual bender is made by hand, it will not be difficult.
