How to make a parachute for children's games?

Parachute sport is now generally available, and parachute jumps are very popular. In this sport discipline, an equipped person "drops out" of an airplane or other aircraft and, in free fall, performs acrobatics under the dome and then lands on the ground. The jump from a height of 4000 meters takes a happy little time - only 60 seconds, while the speed of fall is on average 50-60 meters per second.

About how to make a parachute, thought from a long time

Translated from French, the word "parachute" means: a pair - against, sew - to fall. That is, it is a device for braking when falling. Based on the history, the first inventor of the parachute was Leonardo da Vinci, in his manuscript of the middle of the XV century it is mentioned about descent from height using a starched "tent". Later, at the beginning of the XVII century, another Italian scientist Verancino described in detail the construction of a similar apparatus, the size of the sail of which was directly related to the weight of a person. More widely used parachutes begin already in the XVIII century, after the spread of flights on balloons.

Parachute wing

Parachutes have an elliptical or rectangular dome. The type of parachute - "wing" - is one of the forms that is most common. In this type, in contrast to round, the lines are distributed evenly throughout the dome, and not only along the contour. There are the following design characteristics: the slope and shape of the wing. The load is determined by the pilot himself. Knowing people for just these features of the parachute immediately determine how it will fly. Experts are constantly working on how to make the parachute more functional and easier to use. The shape of the wing is determined by the profile (the ratio of the wing height to the chord) and the elongation (ratio of the span to the chord). This means that the chord is the distance between the trailing edge and the leading edge, and the sweep is the width from one side edge to the other.

The easiest way to make a parachute for a child

If your little son is dreaming about the sky and is very interested in everything related to flying machines, it is worthwhile to make the simplest model of the parachute together with him.

For work you will need a dense cellophane or paper bag, a dense thread, an iron ring, scissors.

  1. Cut a circle with a diameter of 35-40 centimeters from the package.
  2. Make small holes with a diameter of about 0.3-0.5 cm, deviating from the edge by 0.7-1 cm. The number is from 4 to 6, the main thing is that they are located evenly along the edge of the circle.
  3. Measure out lengths of threads 30-35 cm in length according to the number of holes in the future parachute.
  4. Fix the threads, passing through the holes in the carved circle and tying them on knots.
  5. Tie the second ends of the threads to the iron ring. We have so-called slings. Instead of a ring, you can tie a small saucer or a box into which toys are placed - future "parachutists". It is important that the object has some weight for a successful flight.

The parachute is ready - you can start with the baby on the first flight!

Having learned how to make a parachute in the simplest way, you, perhaps, will interest the son to create a more perfect model.
