How to make a leaf bending with your own hands

A tool that allows an employee to bend a metal sheet at the right angle without special experience, is called "sheet bending". With your hands this device can be manufactured by having straight sections of channels and corners with straight edges and planes, and a welding machine.

Surprisingly, in the practice of Russian masters sheet-bending is almost not common, and in fact it gives an advantage over a kyanite, which is usually bent by metal sheets, since it absolutely does not deform the bent part.

In the skillful hands of this device it makes it possible to ideally manufacture such complex structures as chassis, shells, casings, neatly connect the sheets to the fold and, accordingly, improve the presentation of the products.

Before you create a sheet by yourself, you need to figure out what parts it consists of. This is the base, the clamp and the crimping punch with the lever-lever. The base itself is made of channel No.14, the clamp is made of Channel 10, and the crimping punch is made from Angle No. 8. This is enough to design a tool suitable for the job of a roofer.

The distance between the axes of the two clamping bolts should be equal to the length of the metal sheet for the roof. Profiles of the chosen sizes will allow to work with sheets in length to 2 meters. The base is mounted on welded legs of the gantry type with struts. A pair of holes is drilled in the middle of the clamping profile, the distance between each of them and the corresponding end of the channel is 5 centimeters.

Separate attention worthy of the handle-lever, which is equipped with a self-made sheet bending machine. With your own hands, it's easiest to make it from a bar of reinforcement at least 2.5 centimeters in diameter, welding it to a corner. To ensure that the punch is stable in its upper position, the handle is provided with a bend. If there is such a need, the rods can be welded as additional loads of round timber from the metal.

At the ends of the workpiece clamps, the base, the punch and along the edge, a chamfer depth of 1 and a length of 5 centimeters is removed. After that, axes from steel bars of diameter of two centimeters are welded to the punch. The axis during welding should coincide in direction with the edge of the corner. They are installed on the cheeks of scraps of steel sheet thickness of 1-1.5 centimeters.

Next you need to collect the listogib with your own hands. On the base for this is laid a sheet of soft metal, and from above is attracted the clamp fixed temporarily with clamps. The crimp punch is located on top, its vertical shelf must be in contact with the clamp with its entire surface. On the axle, the cheeks are put on and welded to the base by electric welding.

A trial bending is performed, during which the position of the upper clamp relative to the base is checked and adjusted. If everything is correct, the construction is welded.
Then holes in a diameter of 1.4 centimeters are drilled in the base, and in them thread M16 is cut . Screwed bolts are tightened there and fixed by welding. As a squeezing valve springs, which are available in the car engine.

Use sheet-bending with your own hands is not at all difficult: the lever of the lever is moved to the highest position, then the clamping nuts are unscrewed. The clamp is lifted above the base by the force of the springs, a gap is formed below it. In it, it is necessary to skip the bent part of the sheet and set it at a given distance from the fold line so that this line coincides with the edge of the base. The clamping nuts are tightened, and the lever-lever is moved to the lowest position. As a result of these actions, the sheet bends.

Efforts that you will spend not just to make a hand-book with your own hands, will quickly come true. After all, now you can perfectly carry out roofing work without attracting hired strength. And when the need for a machine tool disappears, it can be sold or leased. By the way, it is also possible to produce bent profiles on it, which are necessary for erecting greenhouses, greenhouses, high ridges and other structures of this type.
