How to make a flying flashlight

This year, marking the Victory Day, the citizens gathered around the monument to the heroes of the war. In the night sky, high above it glowed dots, one after another, each point rose slightly above the previous one. So they formed a whole series.

They were flying Chinese lanterns, which the inhabitants did not buy, but specially made their own hands for the holiday. And since on sale they are very rare (by the way, they are inexpensive - wholesale 45 rubles., Retail - 60 rubles.), Had to look for information on how to make a flying flashlight.

It turned out that the technique is one and it's pretty simple. If we lived at the beginning of our era, we would need rice paper, a bamboo hoop and a candle to lift a flashlight into the sky. Certainly, we would have done it not for beauty and out of pampering, but for conveying important information about the conduct of the battle.

Over time, when the wars subsided, Chinese lanterns became a symbol of hope. And today, referring to instructions how to make a flying flashlight, we do it out of good intentions, glorifying the world and celebrating the end of the war. In China, in our days, flying lanterns are usually launched during the festive festivals. Our compatriots gladly began to adopt this beautiful tradition.

How to Make a Flying Chinese Flashlight: Instruction

  1. We prepare the dome. Suitable bags for garbage, necessarily plastic, thin and very light, more than 30 liters in volume. The larger the bag, the less likely it is to ignite and more likely that the flashlight will soar. We cut off the bottom of one package and glue together with the other adhesive tape (there should be one bottom for two packages).
  2. From a thin wire we construct a skeleton, which later we will attach not to the bottom of the sack, but to its open part. Inside the sack do not need a frame, it should be easy, so that later I could climb to the sky. Although the bag can sink to the flame at an unnecessary time. To prevent this, prepare the wire and place it inside the bag, but only one, bending it in place of the bottom, with a diameter equal to the size of the bottom.
  3. We attach a piece of foil in the place of crossing the lower bars, curling it in the form of a glass (or a light box from under the candle). In the center of the cup, we place the cotton wool impregnated with alcohol.
  4. And only then we pull the bag on the frame, attaching it also with an adhesive tape from the inside.

In the same way, we prepare the following flying lanterns by our own hands. But it's better to try your first flashlight first to make sure that everything is done correctly.

Important!

Before "sending" a flashlight into the air:

  1. Fill the dome with air, just lifting it and dropping it sharply;
  2. Gently ignite the fuel (cotton wool) in a glass, hold the dome, if it does not have wire;
  3. Wait a little (minutes 2-3), so that the air under the dome warmed from the flame;
  4. As soon as it warms up, the flashlight will start to detach from the ground, it remains only not to interfere with it. Keep in mind that at first it will rise not high, only after warming up all the air under the bag it will rise to the sky. Do not push the flashlight, it will fly by itself.

He may not rise because of his heavy weight. Do not despair, read through the instructions how to make a flying flashlight, take a thinner wire (or a bigger bag, or a smaller pack) and try again.

As a responsible person, think about safety, do not run a flashlight near wires, wooden buildings, in strong winds (over 5 m per second). Do not leave the children alone to run it into the sky.

Birthday of the child, a wedding, the anniversary of the parents, a romantic evening in the park, just a holiday with the family at the base, the country house - there are plenty of reasons to ask how to make a flying flashlight. Your efforts will be justified by the incredible joy of your loved ones, admiration for your abilities for homemade crafts ...
