How to level the walls.

It so happened that the walls in our apartments leave much to be desired. And having decided to do repairs, as a rule, there always arises the question of how to level the walls. Those who have already encountered such a problem know well that several ways are possible to make them even.

All of them are divided into two large groups, namely the crude method and dry. Than to level the walls in the first case? Here, any construction mixtures, including plaster, are suitable. The second option involves the use of various structures, including plasterboard. Both of these methods are equally effective. But only if all the expected stages of work are observed.

Alignment of walls with plaster often occurs at a difference of thirty to fifty centimeters. The advantage of this method is that the useful area of the apartment remains unchanged. But there are some drawbacks, namely, it is necessary to conduct preliminary cleaning of the surface, as a result of which there is a lot of debris left.

And now we will talk directly about how to level the walls with plaster. The first thing to do is measure all the irregularities. For this purpose, horizontally use either a building level, not less than one and a half meters long, or a cord stretched along the wall. Vertical irregularities are determined by means of a plumb.

The second stage is preparatory. Disconnect all power in the room, clean the walls as neatly as possible from the old coating, whether it's wallpaper, paint or loose plaster. It is important not to damage the wiring harness elements that are directly in the wall.

The third stage is priming the base. Clean the treated walls with a primer, which increases moisture repellency, and the materials do not separate.

The fourth stage is the installation of lighthouses. Before mounting the beacons, install profiles on opposite sides of the wall. Verify the verticality of each individual beacon with a plumb line. The profile on the wall is fixed with a building plaster - apply it to the rail in several places, and the distance between the points should be approximately fifty centimeters. Then, at the top, in the middle and below pull the cord. The remaining slats should be installed in such a way that the tensioned cord touches them lightly. As for the distance between the beacons themselves, it should correspond to the size of the instrument you selected.

The fifth stage - applying plaster. There are no difficulties here. Only one thing is important: when the plaster starts to grasp, but before it has time to freeze, gently pull out the beacon slats and fill the cavity with the building mixture. Smooth with a spatula.

The sixth stage is final. As soon as the plaster dries completely, treat it with the finishing putty and sand it with fine sandpaper.

Well, now, how to level the walls on the example of drywall. Initially, build a frame. To do this, make a marking on the floor for the guide profiles, then transfer them to the ceiling using a vertical plumb line. The guide profiles will then be attached to these lines. Bearing profiles set between them, still keeping track of the same plumb bob parallel and vertical location, both on the floor and on the ceiling.

The distance between the profiles should be forty or sixty centimeters. Bearing to the guide profiles fastens with self-tapping screws and staples. Once the framework is ready, fill the space between the profiles with communications and insulating materials.

Gypsum board mount from any upper corner, while making an indentation from the edge of one centimeter.

Now you know how to level the walls. And you can deal with it yourself without any problems.
