How ovarian uzi is done

Ultrasound is a method of diagnosing the state of internal organs, based on the different ability of tissues to absorb short ultrasonic waves. As a result, the doctor on the screen of a special monitor sees the echogenic structure of the organ, which can indicate a particular pathology.

On a question, when it is better to do uzi of organs of a small basin, it is impossible to give an unequivocal answer. It's all about what the doctor's goals are.

Let's start in order. Ovarian ultrasound is usually performed in conjunction with the examination of the entire area of the female's internal reproductive system. Indications for conducting this diagnosis include the following situations:

- preventive examination;

- control of treatment;

- Pregnancy;

- Suspicion of gynecological pathology;

- change in the volume of allocated menstrual blood;

- Suspicion of pregnancy, pregnancy planning, as well as infertility;

- during the beginning of taking hormonal contraceptives, as well as when setting the intrauterine device.

Ovarian ultrasound can be performed in three main ways:

  1. Through the tissues of the abdomen, ie. Is transabdominal. If the woman is not in position, then ultrasound should be performed with a filled bladder.
  2. Transvaginally - the sensor is inserted into the vagina, and thus the diagnosis is performed.
  3. Mixed or combined method - first conducted through the abdominal wall, and then through the vagina. This method is optimal, because Allows you to see a more accurate picture of what is happening.

Ultrasound of the ovaries to determine the normal maturation of the follicles and the formation of the ovum is carried out on the 5th, 9th, 11th and 14th, 15th days of the menstrual cycle. These days are "indicative" for treating women's folliculogenesis. Most often diagnostics on such days of the cycle are carried out when planning pregnancy, infertility or to evaluate the outcome of treatment.

In order to identify the consistency of the endothelium of the uterus, ultrasound diagnosis is best performed on the 20-21 day. In other cases, ultrasound of the small pelvis can be done at any time, and there are no contraindications for this study.

Ultrasound is the most inexpensive, simple and informative method for diagnosing gynecological pathology.

Ultrasound of the small pelvis: how is it done?

This procedure should be started with a preliminary preparation within 2-3 days. It is necessary to observe a special diet that will cleanse the intestines from old stools, gases and slags. For eight hours before the procedure, the patient should not receive any food, and the last meal should be with a minimum of fat and protein. It is best that it is a vegetable broth.

As described above, there are three main types of diagnosis of the female reproductive system using ultrasound waves. Every woman is warned in advance about how much fluid she should drink before the procedure, and for how long. Modern methods of ultrasound of the ovaries allow this procedure to be carried out with a small amount of drunk liquid one hour before the procedure.

If you are assigned a combined method of diagnosis, then prepare yourself that at first the doctor will look through the pelvic organs through the abdominal muscles, and then you will be asked to urinate (to empty the bladder) to continue the diagnosis. The vaginal sensor, covered with a condom, is inserted into the vagina up to the cervix - so both the ovaries and the uterus are considered. In addition, the state of the Douglas space is determined (here liquid sometimes accumulates). Normally, the fallopian tubes are not visible on ultrasound, and in the anterior space there should be no liquid and blood. Echogenicity of the uterus should be uniform, without structural changes.
