How is the turban made? Master class of children's hats

Do you plan to make a New Year costume for a Sultan or do you need a summer panama for a baby? Then find out how the turban is sewn by hand. The master class of the simplest model of this headgear is presented in the form of step by step instructions. And the photos are given in addition to the stages of work.

From the simplest to the most complex

Chalma - headwear, which is traditionally considered to be oriental. Its features in the way of wrapping a cut of tissue on the head and skilfully forming beautiful folds. Can tie a turban with his own hands in several ways. For residents of the southern regions of the Earth, actions to form a familiar turbine on the head have become commonplace and everyday. But in order not to complicate the process, we'll try to sew the simplest headgear, which in many ways resembles a real turban. Such a cap can be used not only as an element of a carnival costume, but also, for example, to replace knitted hatchets for young children in the summer. The presented description, most likely, will be suitable for making such a gizmo.

Chalma with your own hands: the necessary material

To produce genuine turbans, expensive and beautiful fabrics are used - silk, brocade, etc. Due to the moderate density, the folds are simultaneously clear and soft. In addition, these materials perfectly hold shape. To sew the presented model you need a thinner fabric. You can use both fabric and knitted cotton. But it should be borne in mind that the finished turban will be rather problematic to iron out due to the formed folds. Therefore, give preference to non-fading materials with a small admixture of synthetic fibers.

Sawing

The turban is sewed very simply. Before working, remove the measurements to build a template. To do this, you need to determine by using a centimeter tape two distances - the girth of the head and the length from the base of the neck from the back to the top of the forehead. Draw a rectangle. Its width will be equal to half the first measure (plus 2 cm for freedom), and the height - the second (plus 8-10 cm for the splendor of the cap). When cutting, consider the following allowances for seams:

- 1-1.2 cm on both sides in width.

- 2,5 cm on the bottom horizontal line for the folding of the product.

The fabric should be folded in half, the front side inward. The fold is located on the top edge of the pattern. As a result, only the sides remain unstripped. In addition, cut out a small rectangle, about 6x8 cm, to decorate the front folds on the headdress.

How to sew a turban with your own hands? Stages of work

  1. Sew the bar to decorate the folds on the front. To do this, fold a small rectangle inward along the face inwards and stitch one short and long sides, leaving the top slice free. Turn out and iron.
  2. At the main part, join the side seams by inserting the prepared bar from inside to one of the upper corners (unshielded edge outwards and flush with seams).
  3. Turn out the turban and sew it on the bottom edge.
  4. Deploy it to yourself with the edge where the finishing lining is sewn. Collect the seam in beautiful, identical folds and cover them from top to bottom with a strap. Turn the braid on the wrong side, leaving on the front segment about 3-4 cm in length. Fix the free end from the wrong side in the place of tucking in the corner.
  5. Then the turban is made from the occipital part. Wrap it with another seam to yourself. Place soft creases and secure them with a few stitches.

As you can see, it's quite easy to sew a semblance of an oriental headdress with your own hands. When modeling a turban for a carnival costume, you can provide decoration with beads, bright ribbons or feathers.
