Mycoplasma genitalia: symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, complications

Mycoplasma genitalia causes inflammation of the urinary tract in men and women. And this does not always happen, for most people it can be in the body for a long time absolutely asymptomatic. Mycoplasmosis occurs after a stressful effect on the body, which is accompanied by a decrease in immunity.

One of them is pregnancy. During this period, the hormonal background changes, the defenses of the body are suppressed, which leads to activation of many infections. Mycoplasma genitalia and other its types are very dangerous when carrying a baby. They can cause interruption of pregnancy, infection of the fetus, placental pathologies.

Therefore, it is so important to be examined for mycoplasma and other STDs before conception, to undergo treatment if necessary, in order to reduce the likelihood of complications to a minimum. In addition, mycoplasma genitalia may be the cause of infertility. In men, it causes prostatitis and urethritis, impairs the quality of sperm. In women, the causative agent leads to adnexitis, endometritis, cervicitis, urethritis, and cystitis.

The problem is that the symptoms of mycoplasma are barely noticeable, and more often there are none. Many experts believe that if there are no clinical manifestations, then there is no need to be treated. However, before planning a child, this must be done. Often these microorganisms are detected in absolutely healthy people.

So, mycoplasma symptoms:

  • Vaginal discharge;
  • infertility;
  • Painful urination and sex;
  • Itching, redness, burning of the genitals;
  • abdominal pain.

However, these manifestations are characteristic of all inflammations of the genitourinary system, regardless of the pathogen. Indications for the appointment of an analysis for mycoplasma are:

  • Preventive examination, especially before and during pregnancy;
  • Control of treatment;
  • infertility;
  • Erased symptoms of inflammation in the genitourinary system;
  • ectopic pregnancy;
  • Chronic infection in the urogenital tract.

To diagnose mycoplasmosis is possible only on the basis of a combination of clinical manifestations and test results. Seeding and PCR are most often used to detect these microorganisms. Smears for research are taken from the presumed focus of infection, more often from the urethra.

PCR is a very highly sensitive method. It allows to detect even a few DNA of the microorganism in the preparation. Sowing is performed longer, but it makes it possible to determine the number of pathogens and its sensitivity to the drugs.

Infection with mycoplasmas occurs sexually, and both with vaginal and oral sex. Concerning the possibility of domestic infection, discussions are under way. Also, the disease is transmitted from the mother to the fetus during pregnancy and childbirth.

Often mycoplasma is combined with other pathogens, including opportunistic microorganisms. It is found together with chlamydia, trichomanadami, gonococci. Therefore, it is advisable to pass a survey.

Mycoplasmosis is treated with antibiotics. This takes into account the prescription of the disease and its severity. To increase the effectiveness of therapy use of immune medications and local treatment. During this period, it is better to exclude sex or to be protected. Partners need to be treated at the same time, otherwise it is possible to re-infection.

During pregnancy, therapy with mycoplasmosis should also be performed. The likelihood of complications is significantly reduced.

So, mycoplasma genitalia can not manifest itself in any way, and sometimes causes inflammatory diseases of the urino-genital organs. It can complicate the course of pregnancy, up to its interruption, as well as cause fetal pathology due to infection. Mycoplasmas are the cause of infertility. Symptoms of this disease often have an erased character and are similar to manifestations of inflammation of the urogenital tract caused by other pathogens. Diagnosis is mainly carried out by PCR. If there are no clinical manifestations, and pregnancy is not planned, then there is no need to treat mycoplasmosis .
