"HOM" is a plant protection product

Plant protection is an important branch of agricultural science. It develops methods for combating diseases, pests and numerous weeds, as well as the consequences of their actions. As is known, in this fight one of the measures is the use of a large number of different chemicals, including fungicides.

These substances can be systemic or topical. The latter practically do not penetrate into the plants, but remain on their surface and prevent infection with fungal diseases. Pathogens die from contact with such substances, so the drugs are called contact, for example: Kuprozan, Zineb, Homecin, Bordeaux fluid, HOM (copper chloride), Sulfur colloid. The protective effect of these drugs decreases with partial washing off during rainfall, but still remains.

Assignment of "HOM"

"HOM" is a drug well known to gardeners. They have long been successfully using it to protect vegetable and berry crops. Copper chloride is used to control peronosporosis in onions and cucumbers, late blight of potatoes and tomatoes, various diseases of ornamental crops and flowers.

To treat leaf curl in peaches, scab of apple and pear, too, use the drug "HOM". The reviews of gardeners confirm its high efficiency against the mildew grapes and plum rot. Moreover, copper in its time was, perhaps, the most suitable means of combating this disease of the sunny berry, as well as the cheapest, until there appeared organic fungicides that do not contain copper.

The drug "HOM": instructions for use

Copper chloride - crystalline powder of bluish-green color, odorless. This is a full-fledged substitute for the Bordeaux mixture, but unlike it, "HOM" is a more convenient and ready-to-use preparation. Inferior to the mixture only in the ability to hold on the leaves.

The working solution is very easy to prepare: first, the "HOM" agent is diluted in a small amount of water, after which, constantly stirring, add the liquid to the required volume. The treatment of plants should be carried out in clear weather without wind, with an air temperature of not more than +30 0 , while trying to evenly wet the surface of the leaves. The entire prepared solution must be used in one day.

All cultures are sprayed during the growing season, except ornamental plants, they should be treated before and after flowering. In order for the working solution to stay on the plants better, 1% of the total volume of skimmed milk can be added to it.
The period of the protective action of the fungicide lasts from 10 to 14 days, while the resistance of causative agents to copper chloride does not arise.

"HOM" - an ecologically safe preparation, for a short time microorganisms of the soil, it completely decomposes to the simplest substances, leaving no traces of chemistry. To prevent the accumulation of the active substance in the fruit, the treatment with the preparations is stopped 20 days before harvest. For grapes, this period increases to 30 days.

Security measures

The drug "HOM" is a substance belonging to the third class of danger, it is medium-toxic for humans and animals. For bees, too, presents some danger, so plants should not be sprayed during flowering. Honey laborers must be isolated for 5-6 hours before and after processing the crops. Works on spraying plants are carried out in overalls, after their termination it is necessary to change clothes, wash their face and hands with soap. The intake of food and water, as well as smoking during the spraying are not allowed. For most cultures, the drug is not phytotoxic, but in some plants, with high humidity, it can cause burns on the leaves and a brown mesh on the fruit, so the maximum effect from the "HOM" product is achieved in dry summer areas.
