History of the metro station "Pervomaiskaya"
The metro station "Pervomayskaya" is the penultimate on the eastern direction of the Arbat-Pokrovskaya metro line. It is located on the stretch between the stations "Schelkovskaya" and "Izmaylovskaya". The first passengers stepped onto this platform in October 1961. And until the summer of 1963 the metro station "Pervomayskaya" was the final one, until the eastern direction of the line was continued to "Shchelkovskaya". Since then, more than half a century has passed and there is no reason to believe that the situation may change. Plans for further continuation of the line and its development beyond the Moscow Ring Road are not yet available.
Metro "Pervomaiskaya" on the map of Moscow
Even having a developed imagination it is impossible to imagine this station as any significant work of architecture. Its external appearance is laconic and little expressive. By its constructive type of metro station "Pervomaiskaya" is a three-column column station of shallow laying. The main hall hall is supported by two rows of reinforced concrete columns. The narrow columns slightly widen at the top. They are trimmed with red marble. Decorative design on this is exhausted. A column in each row of forty pieces. Metro "May Day" was the first station of similar design. In the future, a similar layout was adopted for the model and was repeatedly used both in Moscow and in other cities of the Soviet Union, where the subway was designed and built. In architectural circles, this planning was jokingly called "centipede". On the external appearance of the station, the era in which it was built and was put into operation was directly reflected.
