Grand Cherokee Car

When in 1938 the armed forces of the United States needed a new mobile car instead of the usual motorcycle with a stroller, Willys Overland took up the development. The very first drawings of the new car were presented by the end of 1939. The car was designed by American engineer Arthur Herrington. The car was named Willys MB. After the war Willys Overland decides to change the model Willis MB and make it suitable for use in a peaceful life.

The new car was named CJ. It became the basis for the serial model. The sale of cars began in the middle of summer of 1945. The updated model should have a Jeep logo, but for the use of the name Jeep, the company began to sue "American Bantam Car". In this regard, until 1950, the car was produced under the name Willis. In June 1950 the company won a lawsuit and registered the name Jeep.

Willis Company in 1946 released a car Willis Jeep Station Wagon - a minivan of civil type. Rear-wheel drive car accommodated up to seven people, however, he developed speed only up to one hundred kilometers. But its main advantage was in the highest patency. Three years later saw a light all-wheel drive SUV. He became the progenitor of the current, modern Grand Cherokee.

At the very end of the eighties, the company Jeep was in a difficult situation. Pressure on the automotive market from the Japanese, which offered their very good jeeps, was felt. In the first place, Japanese cars outnumbered the US in terms of comfort.

In 1992, the company Jeep achieved a rematch in the struggle for consumer recognition. The world public was presented with a luxurious Grand Cherokee, who came to replace the "old man" Wrangler, which was released more than 28 years. The novelty immediately appealed to consumers, it was appreciated by critics. Comfortable interior, elegant and strict design and excellent technical characteristics. From 1992 to 1998, the first generation Grand Cherokee cars were sold in the amount of 1.5 million copies.

In 1998, the company introduced the new generation Grand Cherokee. Somewhat changed the design of the car. The body lines became softer, the shape of the block headlights changed. On the front bumper appeared fog lights.

The 1999 Jeep was equipped with two motors - a 3.1-liter V5, a power of 140 hp. And gasoline 4.7 liters.

In 2004, a representative of the third generation Grand Cherokee appears. He became the owner of new gasoline and diesel engines. The design of the car practically has not changed - there were large headlights and an updated windshield.

However, the generation change did not give Jeep the expected results - the sales level could not be increased. Despite the difficulties and increasing competition, Jeep continues to work hard to create new models. Confirmation of this - the emergence of the Grand Cherokee 2013.

The brutal and solid car got a softer streamlined body line, which gives it an extra charm. The front grille has become much smaller, the front part has become smoother and more curved. The interior - a new instrument panel has also changed, the leather trim, the shape and design of the seats have changed.

The official presentation of the new SUV Grand Cherokee 2014 was held at the Detroys Motor Show, which opened January 14, 2013. The start of sales of a new car in North America is scheduled for late summer 2013.
