Kevin Grosskreutz was born in the German city of Dortmund in 1988. Already in four years he began to play football at the academy of the local club "Rot-Weiss". At the age of seven, he fell into another academy, owned by the club "Kemminghausen." There he spent four years, after which he again changed the place of training - now he started to play football with the club "Merkur 07", but everyone knew that from the very early childhood Kevin was rooting for Dortmund "Borussia", the largest club of his hometown and one of The strongest in Germany. It was love for life, and at the age of 14 the boy's dream came true - he was in the Academy of Borussia, where, however, did not stay long. There was no special talent in him, so at the age of 15 in 2003 Kevin Grosskreutz moved to the academy of the club "Rot-Weiss", but if in the childhood his team belonged to the city of Obereving, now - to Alena. It was there that the young player began his professional career when in 2006 the management offered him a professional contract.

The first years in professional football

Kevin Grosskreutz, whose biography is set forth in the article, immediately made his way to the foundation of the club, which in those days acted in the Regional League. In his first professional season he spent 27 matches, scoring six goals. Kevin started as a right winger, but already in the "Rot-Weiss" he was periodically put on other positions. So, he managed to play and left in the attack, and become a drawn forward, and fall into the midfield to playmaker position. In his second season, Grosskreutz played back a maximum of 36 matches, scoring 12 goals. Thanks to his efforts, as well as the efforts of his teammates, the club managed to break out of the lower division, and in 2008 he was in the second Bundesliga. There Grosskreutz Kevin continued to demonstrate excellent football qualities and his versatility, thanks to which he was noticed by the very Dortmund Borussia, which refused it seven years ago.

Going to Borussia

What was the fate of such a football player as Kevin Grossskreuz in Borussia? Biography, rating, player statistics - this is all that fans are interested in, and all this you can find in this material.

So, 2009 was decisive for 21-year-old Kevin, whose contract with "Roth-Weiss" came to an end, and he moved to the club of his dreams as a free agent. There he first replaced the Paraguayan Nelson Valdez, until he ousted him from the main line-up. As early as December 2009, Grossskreutz began to receive stable gaming practice and became one of the key performers in the team. This was reflected in the statistics: already in the first season, the football player had 33 matches, scoring five goals.

In the second season, the left flank was completely left for Grossskroits, he took part in all 34 Bundesliga matches, only two substitutions. In addition, he was the main and in the matches of the German Cup, as well as at the games of the prestigious international tournament - the League of Europe. It was in that season that Dortmund's Borussia managed to win the Bundesliga, which did not happen for a very long time.

The third season proved to be no less successful for Kevin than the previous one: he again played 43 games, as he did last year, but this time he scored 8 goals instead of 9. Moreover, Borussia again won the Bundesliga, and also added the German Cup. But since 2012 everything went not so wonderful as for "Borussia", and for the Grossskroits.

The club acquired Marco Royce, an incredibly talented left winger, who immediately left Kevin on the bench. It was from this season that the work of Grossskroits began in all positions: he played both the right winger and the central midfielder, and also played several matches in the positions of the right and left defenders. As a result, he played 44 games and scored 2 goals. It became clear that he had no future as a left winger in Borussia, but Kevin did not want to give up, he wanted to fight for his future in the dream club. Therefore, in the next season, without any problems and claims, he took the position of the right-back, and when Royce was injured, he returned to the left flank of the attack. Then he played the most matches in a season - as many as 50, scoring three goals at the same time. It would seem that Grosskreuz is unique, and he will play in "Borussia" by all means.

But the tale ended with the departure of head coach Jürgen Klopp. In his place came Thomas Tuchel, whom Grosskreutz was absolutely not needed. As a result, Kevin was on the bench, he only periodically went on the field, and in the second half of the season a sudden injury buried all hopes. When Grossskreuz recovered, he politely pointed to the exit. He wanted to fight, but he was left with no choice, and this fans definitely will not forgive the club's management. Kevin Grosskreutz is a midfielder, defender, striker, who will always remain in the hearts of Dortmund fans of Borussia. But in the summer of 2015 he had to leave his favorite club and join the "Galatasaray", which paid him a half million euros.

Problems with "Galatasaray"

German footballer Kevin Grosskreuz could have started a new life in the Turkish club, if not for an absurd accident. The matter is that the player's transfer was made on the last day of the transfer window. And, as it turned out later, the new club could not meet the deadline and submit the necessary documentation. As a result, Kevin was in a difficult situation: he could not leave the club, but he could not play for him until a new transfer window was opened, that is until January 1, 2016. Naturally, this situation did not suit him, and in early January of the next year, as soon as he had the opportunity, Grossskreutz returned to Germany. But, unfortunately, not in the beloved Dortmund "Borussia", but in "Stuttgart", which agreed to compensate "Galatasaray" 1.5 million euros and another seven hundred thousand in addition.

A new beginning in "Stuttgart"

In the "Stuttgart" Grosskreutz immediately fell into the basis, he began to play the position of the right defender. Everything went well, he played nine games in the Bundesliga and even one match against his former club in the German Cup, but in March he was injured and missed an impressive amount of playing time. By early July, he recovered from injury, played another match in the Bundesliga and returned to the infirmary with a relapse. The new season has already started, Stuttgart flew to the second Bundesliga, where it will fight to return to the first, and Kevin is recovering from injury and will soon have to join his partners.

Team Germany

For the national team Grossskreutz debuted in May 2010 in a friendly match against Malta, in which he played 33 minutes for the position of the playmaker. After that, he spent five more friendly matches, the last of which was in September 2014 with Argentina, in which the Germans lost with a score of 2: 4. Kevin went to the 2014 World Cup with his team, but did not spend a single minute on the pitch.

Personal life

About Kevin's personal life is not known very much. He has a brother, Marcel, who still stands for the double of Dortmund's Borussia. And also, as already mentioned above, Grosskreutz is a big fan of the Dortmund club, he has been a fan of black and yellow since childhood and continues to do so now.

Interesting Facts

The most interesting fact about Grossscrew is its universality. Kevin during his career played almost all positions on the field, which you can imagine. He was not made unless the goalkeeper, the central defender and the central striker. And, of course, it's impossible to forget 2010, when Grosskreutz promised that he would lose his nails if Borussia won the championship. And it was then that "Borussia" won a sensational victory in the Bundesliga. Kevin helped shave his teammate Dede.
