'Genferon Light'

"Genferon Light" is available in the form of vaginal and rectal suppositories. The medication is an immunomodulatory agent with an antiviral effect.

"Genferon Light" is a combined preparation. The mechanism of antiviral, antibacterial, immunomodulatory and antipolipative effects is due to the presence of recombinant human interferon alpha-2-b in the composition of the drug. "Genferon Light" has local and systemic activity.

Immunomodulating property is manifested in the intensification of cell-mediated reactions in the immune system. This increases its effectiveness relative to cells and their parasites that underwent tumor transformation. The antiviral effect is due to activation of individual intracellular enzymes that slow down replication.

Under the influence of interferon, the activation of leukocytes present in each mucosal layer occurs. At the same time, their participation in the elimination of foci of pathology is stimulated. The influence of interferon promotes recovery of secretory immunoglobulin production.

Taurine, which is part of the "Genferon Light" preparation, stimulates the normalization of regenerative and metabolic processes. In addition, this component has an immunomodulating and membrane-stabilizing action. Taurine is a strong antioxidant and comes into direct contact with active oxygen forms, the excessive content of which stimulates the development of pathologies. In addition, the component participates in the prolongation of the biological activity of interferon, thus enhancing the effect of using the medication.

Indications for the use of the drug are infectious and inflammatory pathologies in the urogenital tract of children and women, not excluding pregnant women. In addition, the medication is prescribed as a component of a comprehensive therapy aimed at getting rid of other infectious lesions of the viral etiology.

"Genferon Light": instructions for use

The drug can be administered both vaginally and rectally. Dosage, the method of administration, as well as the duration of the therapeutic course are selected by a specialist, taking into account the clinical picture and age of the patient.

In acute infectious and inflammatory processes in the urogenital tract of children, one suppository of the drug "Genferon Light" is administered twice a day rectally. The instruction assumes a twelve-hour interval with duration of therapy within ten days.

In infectious and inflammatory conditions in the urogenital tract of pregnant patients, administration is performed vaginally on the suppository twice a day. The interval between the procedures is twelve hours, the duration of the application is ten days.

To treat infectious and inflammatory pathologies of non-pregnant women, the introduction, taking into account the nature of the pathology, is performed rectally or vaginally. Procedures are recommended twice a day every twelve hours. The course lasts ten days. In the presence of protracted forms, the drug is given every other day three times a week for a suppository for one to three months.

As a rule, the medicine is favorably tolerated by patients. However, in some cases, allergic reactions are possible, manifested by burning and itching in the vagina. Usually, these phenomena are reversible and disappear for seventy-two hours after drug withdrawal. Further treatment is discussed with a specialist.

In practice, no dangerous or severe adverse reactions were observed. Conditions that are characteristic of all types of interferon alfa-2b may be noted. These include fever and sweating, chills, appetite disorder, headaches, joint and muscle pains, fatigue, thrombotic and leukocytopenia. It should be noted that the above phenomena are more common when the daily dosage is exceeded.
