"General Toptygin": summary and analysis

The poem "General Toptygin" was written by poet Nekrasov from 1867 to 1873. It was based on the folk anecdote about how the caretaker received a bear who was riding in a sleigh for an important military commander and before he was afraid of him that he did not even immediately see that he was dealing with an animal, and not with a man. However, this folk comedy story under the poet's pen was filled with accusatory pathos, however, skillfully hidden behind the vulgar speech and ridiculous plot.

Introduction

The work "General Toptygin" begins with a description of the winter village evening. The author in a few words draws a familiar familiar picture of the village, along which the coachman is riding in a sleigh.

The poet recreates the picture of the Russian road, along which three horses ride - a traditional image in the domestic literature of the 19th century. The horse is ruled by a young guy named Fedya. On the way, he meets with the leader, Trifon, who carries a bear with him. The driver pushes them both to him, and after a while they decide to go to the tavern. They leave the beast alone, and they themselves go to the drinking establishment.

Adventure

The new work of the poet "General Toptygin" is distinguished by a delicate good-humored humor, which obscures the accusatory notes that the author has put in his lines. In fact, the case narrated by Nekrasov is too amusing to focus on his criticism of the shortcomings in the social reality of the state when analyzing it.

The plot of the accident was a pure accident: the bear made an incautious move, barked, the horses were frightened and rushed forward at great speed. Nekrasov deliberately emphasizes that before the horses rode quietly and calmly, as they were tired, and the coachman did not drive them very much. But now they were so afraid of the roar of their new rider that they rushed along the road with all their might, despite the ruts and potholes encountered en route. People who passed by decided that an important person like a chief was traveling in a sleigh, and therefore the poem was called "General Toptygin." Thus, the bear arrived directly to the postal station. It was already night, and the superintendent could not see in the dark who was actually his guest.

Incident at the Inn

The comedy of the situation was that the venerable old man was not embarrassed by the fact that the squat was howling and roaring. The first decided that his visitor was angry and very frightened. Despite his fear, he still began to offer the bear tea and vodka, while the people gathered around watched with curiosity those whom they mistook for the boss.

Much attention to the reaction of ordinary people to the incident was given by Nekrasov. "General Toptygin" is a small verse in which a small sketch from Russian village life is presented. The poet describes different people: those who were more brave, dared to approach the sled to see the important person, those who feared were left behind. The comedy of the situation was reinforced by the fact that nobody seemed to be strangely silent about the rider. He only tossed in his sleigh and roared like a bear. In these lines, the author's irony is felt above the passers-by important people.

Decoupling

The poem "General Toptygin", the brief content of which became the subject of this review, concludes by the fact that those who came running coachman and counselor explained the situation to the assembled and threw the bear out of the sleigh. At the end, the poet again missed the subtle irony over his heroes, in a few words indicating that the warden had called the coachman. This work is traditionally included in the number of children's poems, but it can be very interesting for adults, because, firstly, it is quite amusing, and secondly, it depicts in miniature the picture of village life, the Russian outback in the second half of 19 Century.
