Gazelle 2705 - dead workhorse

GAZelle 2705 began life on July 20, 1994, when it was introduced in Moscow by the Gorky Automobile Plant. This car has become truly popular for 16 years of its release, but, sad as it may sound, it was discontinued in mid-2010. He was replaced by GAZel Business, which has now become a full-fledged truck, but not about it.

The first version of 1994 produced a furore. It had good traction characteristics, since the 100-horsepower engine ZMZ 402 coped well with its own weight of 1850 kg. In addition, considering also the cargo, the maximum weight of which was 1350 kilograms, the car retained its pick-up and good handling.

The Gazelle 2705 had engines of 2.5 liters throughout the history of production. First, a mechanism was used in the lower camshaft arrangement, but such a design can not provide rapid movement of the valves, in addition, it significantly reduces the accuracy, since there are four parts involved in the drive of one valve, between each of them there is a gap whose breaking is simply inevitable.

Therefore, it was decided to upgrade the GAZelle 2705. In 2003, a new cabin and a ZMZ 406 engine were installed on the car . Naturally, this had a positive effect on the dynamics of the car, but the load capacity remained the same. Remained and the former popularity of GAZelle 2705.

Specifications and a maximum permissible weight of 3200 kg allowed to drive the car in the presence of a driver's license category "B". Thus, the contingent of owners remained unchanged, and driving became more pleasant and clear. This was helped by a new steering mechanism , and a change in gear ratio .

The apotheosis of design thought was the installation of the engine ZMZ 405 for cars GAZ 2705. GAZelle from this seriously won, because 140 horsepower is significantly better than 100 or 128. Here, new innovations were used, such as a hydraulic puller chain drive camshaft. The latter, by the way, since 406 was placed in the head of the block of cylinders, the results, probably, should not be said. Many owners believe that when designing ZMZ 405, the designers of GAZ took into account practically all the shortcomings of the past years and corrected them. So, for example, since 406 the packing on the back bearing began to be applied.

Among the owners of the GAZ 2705 model 1994 was the saying: "If oil does not flow from the 402 engine, then it simply does not exist!". In part this was true, since the camshaft cover on the side was made of thin sheet iron, which was bent under the force of the tight nuts. Hence the leak. But this is not the only time. For example, there is still an oil pump, packing on the rear bearing of the crankshaft, and many other small things. So, the latest models of GAZ engines have all these problems, one way or another, solved, so there are practically no shortcomings.

Hence it can be concluded that to operate the GAZelle 2705, due to its good technical component, you can practically without hassle. The machine has a good resource of work, so repair will not be so frequent, and if it does, it will not break the hole in the budget.
