Game Disciples II: Dark Prophecy. Review, codes

Annually hundreds of games of different genres and directions are produced. But only a few of them sink into the hearts of players so that they remain relevant and interesting even after tens of years. This is the strategy of "Disciples II".

System requirements

Of course, "Disciples II" was released a long time ago. In 2002, the system requirements of this game could seem prohibitive. Now if the game does not start, it's only because the computer is too powerful.

Fortunately, the fact that the strategy required Windows XP, contributed to its playability on the "seven". So if necessary, you can always run it in compatibility mode.

The other parameters are very ridiculous. 32 MB of RAM and a processor at 300 MHz. By the way, there is one more problem that can arise for those who want to play in "Disciples II". The game can not accept multi-core processors, so sometimes it's better to disable additional cores.

With a video card, no one will have a problem. Suitable even the usual built-in laptop. In fact, this game can be safely downloaded and installed on any modern phone or tablet.

Plot

The story of the confrontation of four races continues the story of a decade ago, which players could learn from the first part of the game. In the original version you will have to play 4 campaigns, so unlike each other, but at the same time fully complementing the world view:

  • The empire of people is mired in the civil war, and you have to restore order in it;
  • Gnomes seek greatness and try to strengthen the power of their god on earth, incidentally helping all parties to the conflict;
  • The undead tries to protect their borders, and their goddess wants to resurrect her husband;
  • Demons wish to free their master and try to prevent the destruction of the race.

The main concept of the game is the duality of the actions of each hero. Until you play all four stories, you will not be able to understand what exactly guided the actions of this or that character.

Unfortunately, after the end of the campaign, the player has a lot of questions. "And what happened next?" - the main one. The third part of the game, which came out after 5 years, never gave an answer to this question and was a complete failure.

Global map

Finally we got to the gameplay. "Disciples II" is not very different from its predecessor in terms of playability, but made a good step forward in terms of graphics. There is no reason to be afraid, looking at the soiled and grainy image. The lines, although they were rather sharp, give more gothicness than ugliness.

As with most such strategies, all the gameplay comes down to controlling the territory on the global map. In total there are 5 types of resources for which the player will have to compete - four types of mana for spells and gold.

In addition, the player will have to fight for the key points - the city, which also brings daily income and spread the influence of the hosts on the land. This is the main concept - you will literally forcefully conquer every piece of land.

One of the most important tactical components will be a system of global spells, which is not found in almost any other game. The exception is unless Age of Wonders. Depending on the chosen race, you will have to decide on the tactic:

  • People specialize in blessing and strengthening their own detachments, up to full immunity to any type of damage;
  • Demons - masters for attacking spells, they are capable of inflicting a huge amount of damage, even without engaging in battle;
  • Mountain clans (gnomes) are the golden mean, they can both strengthen their own detachments and attack the enemy;
  • Undead, like in all other strategies, specializes in curses and weakening of the enemy.

In addition, each race is able to summon creatures, but only for one turn. If you choose the magician as the main lord, the most powerful spells will be available to you, and you will be able to conjure each one more than once a day. All this allows to make the game unique in terms of tactics and capabilities.

Cities

The system of cities, in contrast to the closest analog ("Heroes of the sword and magic 3") is very simple. There are only two types of settlements - the capital and the usual city.

Secondary settlements on the map are outposts in which you can hire soldiers. In addition, they increase the speed of the spread of your territory. But that's all. Depending on the level of the city, only the number of troops that you can keep for guarding changes. The remaining possibilities depend on the buildings in the starting settlement.

The capital is the place from which the mission starts. Developing it, you will discover new levels of development of soldiers, as well as additional opportunities for cities.

The temple allows for gold to resurrect and treat fallen soldiers.

The tower of magic has only one level and opens the possibility to learn and cast spells. You can learn only one magic a day. You can apply several spells, but once each (per day). If you choose at the start of the lord magician, you can pronounce every spell 2 times a day.

The thieves' guild allows you to hire the appropriate unit. He can not develop and always acts alone. Can not attack, but uses a variety of different skills (poisoning, murder, duel), the list of which expands if you choose the appropriate specialization of the lord.

A special building allows the hiring of special units. This building is different for each race. In demons, you can hire fiends, the undead have werewolves, people have titans, and mountain clans have yeti. All of them are very strong, but they occupy two cells and spend two points of command, which does not allow them to hire a sufficient number of different types of troops. The exception is werewolves. They only occupy one cell and are immune to physical attacks. Their only drawback is price. 1000 gold at the very beginning of the game - an unbearable amount, and by the time you can hire them, you already pump many other effective units.

The remaining buildings serve exclusively for pumping soldiers.

Battles

The battle system in "Disciples 2" is implemented very simply. Each player at maximum leveling has six slots in which he must install troops. One of them is occupied by the hero himself.

In combat, your main task is to kill opponents in the first line to get to the far. Of course, in this case, archers are able to hit immediately on any cell, and due to the high initiative they usually go first. Wizards hitting the whole area are usually the slowest and flimsy, so their protection is one of the top priorities. All that has been said is for troops that are not fortified with blessings.

Units

The system of development of soldiers in "Disciplines 2" is also very simple. At achievement of certain experience and presence of construction in capital the soldier changes the appearance and skills. That is why it's important to take care of everyone, treat and resuscitate. Experience with neutral units is not infinite.

Also in Disciples II: Dark Prophecy there is a system of branches of development. When choosing a pumping character, be guided by your opponents. For example, by pumping a warrior from people, you can make an inquisitor or a knight out of him. The first one deals better with the undead and wizards, the second one is more universal and has armor indicators.

Additions

All that we described in the story took place in the original Disciples II: Dark Prophecy. In addition to it, two add-ons were released: "Guard of Light" and "Guard of Darkness", which supplemented the initial campaigns with three missions. In general, the plot became clearer, but there was a scatter for the purposes of the races, and the plot was no longer tied to their relationship. In 2005, these games were included in a single collection of Disciples 2: Gold Edition.

In 2006, another supplement was issued. It was called "Disciples 2: Rise of the Elves" and narrated what became of the resurrected undead Galleon after the events of the original game. In this part, the elves become a playable race, a number of new scenarios and a new type of mana, especially for elves.

Cheats

For those who do not like to go through a long and hard mission, the developers have implemented a whole system of cheat commands that facilitate the game "Disciples 2". Codes are very diverse, and we will not quote them all, but only the most useful ones:

  • Moneyfornothing - adds the maximum of all resources;
  • Help! - cure all units outside the locks;
  • Stairwaytoheaven - instantly raises the level of soldiers, if the building is built;
  • Lifeisacarnival - resurrects the dead soldiers from the hero, does not work for the cities;
  • Borntorun - restores movement points.

In the "Disciples 2" codes must be entered in the chat window that appears when you press the Enter button.
