Bronchitis in children: the main causes of the onset of the disease and its symptoms

Ordinary cold in a child very often can go to bronchitis - a disease with symptoms that are manifested more seriously: high fever, shortness of breath, wet or dry cough. In addition to the transferred infection, there are other various causes of inflammatory processes in the airways. Why does it appear and how to cure bronchitis in a child? Is it possible to use folk remedies? This will be discussed in our article.

What are the causes of bronchitis in children?

  1. Most often, this inflammatory process is the result of any viral seasonal infection, such as influenza. The usual picture of the developing disease is as follows: first there is a runny nose, then the throat inflames, and after one or two days the child begins to cough. Without timely diagnosis and treatment of acute infection, there is a risk of damage not only to the bronchial mucosa, but also to the lungs.
  2. Much less often bronchitis occurs due to the occurrence of bacterial infection. Microbes can enter (especially in young children) in the airways along with very small foreign bodies. Hurrying or talking while eating, the baby can accidentally inhale crumbs, seeds, pieces of fruit. These particles, of course, go outside, and the infection remains.
  3. Often the disease can be allergic and occur after contact with certain external stimuli: pollen of plants, house dust, "fragrances" of detergent powders, animal hair.
  4. Sometimes bronchitis in children develops as a result of exposure to chemical factors, for example inhalation of contaminated smoke or gasoline vapors.

In addition to the result of the main causes, bronchitis in children can be a consequence of parasitic infections. Also, some congenital malformations of the respiratory system, accompanied by purulent processes, manifest themselves in the form of this disease.

Diagnosis of bronchitis in children : the main symptoms

The most common manifestations that determine this serious disease is the presence of heat for several days in a row and a cough. The latter can be both dry and wet. The doctor after the examination also discerns various rales in the lungs. Almost in all cases, cough may produce sputum. In the acute form of bronchitis, it has the appearance of an almost completely transparent liquid. Chronic disease is usually diagnosed in the presence of purulent expectoration clots.

How are acute bronchitis treated in children with herbal infusions?

Parents should always follow all the doctor's recommendations accurately and rigorously. Only this can be a guarantee of the child's fastest recovery. Herbal decoctions and infusions in no way should completely replace the medicines prescribed by the doctor. Use them as an auxiliary therapy, combining with the main course of treatment. And do not forget that any new products for the child should be given at first in very small portions, since an allergic reaction to any component is possible.
