In this article we will talk about an unusual hobby - frivolity.

Frivolite

This is lace weaving with the help of a shuttle. In Russia came from France, so the French language translates as "frivolity." Fashionable frivolity was in the seventeenth century. In this technique, gloves, handbags, umbrellas, as well as curtains and napkins were manufactured. From such things there was a kind of special ease, and they were the affiliation of every woman.

After the revolution, frivolity was declared a lunatic whim and undeservedly forgotten.

Today, amidst hobbies of various kinds of needlework about the frivolity, they remembered. It has become a kind of hobby with which you can decorate things and give them personality.

The execution of laces by a shuttle in the technique of frivolity is not difficult and very exciting. It does not require any special expensive devices. The execution of the weave is very quickly mastered, and the final result is so beautiful that I want to improve my skills again and again.

Simple weaving

Lace tattoos are made from only one knot, which alternates with broaches. They are called "pico" and join in circles and arcs. Various combinations of this duet form a picture. If you master the implementation of this knot in the manufacture of lace in the technique of frivolity, the pattern of patterns will be easier to read.

The assembly is performed using a needle or shuttle. Consider a frivolite for beginners with a needle.

The binding of the double knot is performed as follows. Press the thread with the needle to the finger, leaving a small end. We take the working thread on the index finger, do a torsion and put it on the needle. Carefully tighten the knot. Again, we take the working thread on the finger and make a torsion, as in the first case, only in the other direction. We drop it on the needle, pull it up, and the double knot is ready.

Now let's see how the pico is done. First, execute five double knots, as shown above, then leave some loose thread and again make a double knot. Now we pull it to the weave and get a picot. Its magnitude will depend on the length of the free thread that we leave between the nodes.

We continue the weaving further to such a length: the needle should have three picos and four stretches of five double knots. We will execute a ring which is the basic element of a lace of a frivolite. To do this, in the eye of the needle we will thread the working thread, pull the weave onto it, stretch it to the end and make the ring.

Now let's see how these rings are connected to each other. We leave a little thread, approximately, like a pico, and we knit five double knots. We connect them with the first pico on the previously made ring, for this we draw the thread with a needle. And then we knit as the first ring.

By learning to make these simple elements, you can move on to more complex patterns that are performed with the help of a shuttle.

Crochet

There is another way of weaving - it's a frivolite crocheted. Let's see how the flower is executed. Instead of needles, we take a hook, it is very convenient for them to drag the thread into ready-made circles.

The main element of the flower - a circle, the implementation of which is described just above. We will execute it from four double knots. When the first circle is ready, we make a connection: we select four double knots, the fourth and the third we tie together and we type another knot. The connection is ready. Then we do the weaving in this way. In total we will make six circles, having connected the first and last. Get a wonderful flower.

It can be used as a separate craft, for example earring. It can also be an element of a more complex weaving. For example, it can be seen in the center of the napkin depicted in the first photo.
