Flycatcher ordinary - a multi-legged guest in the apartment

Seeing such a "sorokonogii" surprise on his own on the wall with a sharp inclusion of light, man is driven by one animal instinct: destroy! To nail down the slipper immediately and throw it out the window - that's how unflattering the flycatcher is on the wall of the apartment. But is it worth it to harm harmless God's creatures, especially since this insect refers precisely to such - at least until the present time, the cases of a lethal outcome through the fault of the flycatcher have not been observed.

Features of the type of flycatcher ordinary

This animal, or rather, an insect, has its name in Latin: Scutigera coleoptrata. It is not without reason that the flycatcher received his nickname - it comes from the class of the legged flys of the flycatcher and feeds on insects. In its size, the flytrap is not that big - up to 5 cm, so it looks like an innocuous bug on the scale of a three-room apartment. Just imagine what the flytrap sees us - and I want to hug her and cry!

Let's return to the biological description: the flycatcher ordinary has 15 pairs of long and tenacious legs, allowing climbing on the walls. Extraction traces and entices an insect with the help of long antennae. Body color is rather primitive - transparent-brownish, with three black strips along the back and legs. If you look at the muzzle, it is slightly narrower, the eyes are slanted, at a certain angle it seems that the flytrap smiles.

Undoubtedly, the centipede flytail is a predator, but at the same time, the attendant: its main diet consists of termites and cockroaches, small flies and prusaks. Like her victims - spiders, flytrappers inject poison into prey, and then eat it. Before you swat the flytrap, it's worth a thousand times to think: are we ready for such a scathing destruction of pests?

By the way, for those who fear for furniture, food and pets - nothing like a flycatcher ordinary does not eat, much less - people. The bite of a flycatcher, if any, is equated with a mosquito bite or a weak bee.

The habitat of flycatchers is limited to the southern edges of Russia, the Crimea and Kazakhstan. In nature, they hide under the stones, waiting for the heat, and at night are particularly active and resort to a bright light in the walls of boarding houses and houses. Flycatchers, as well as any creatures, also freeze - with the onset of cool autumn nights they flee to apartments in search of shelter.

It is interesting that young flytrappers have only 4 pairs of legs, with each new molt, increasing one more. These centipedes live in ideal conditions up to 7 years.

Flycatchers - are they only insects?

In nature, this name is very common. There is a predatory (carnivorous) plant called "Venus Flycatcher", luring its bright scarlet insect flowers and slamming the "mouth" as soon as they sit down on them.

Also in the world of birds with a small and sympathetic representative stands a gray flytrap - this bird has a piercing voice and often resembles a sparrow. Flycatchers gray are widespread in moist and light forests in warm parts of Europe and in the south of Siberia. Its nests are often placed on stumps or dried snags, which makes the chicks vulnerable, and the type of flytrap is rare and exotic.
